Suddenly, Bella dried her tears, putting on a defiant expression as she faced Maxwell's parents.

"Uncle, Aunt, I was wrong. Maxwell is right—we never had relations, and there is no child. I was talking nonsense. I'll leave now, with my baby."

She emphasized the last two words "my baby" without making a sound, only moving her lips.

Maxwell's parents caught what she was implying immediately, and their anger flared.

As Bella made to stand, Mrs. Grayson shouted:

"Enough! Bella, you're not going anywhere. We'll settle this today! Mrs. Wang, take Bella aside and look after her. Have our private doctor come perform a pregnancy test."

After settling Bella, Mrs. Grayson turned to Maxwell with disappointment.

"Maxwell, how did we raise such an irresponsible son?"

"You've already wronged Alison, and now you want to abandon your own child? If you dislike this child that much, if you dislike Bella that much, why did you betray Alison in the first place!"

Mrs. Grayson was furious, pointing at Maxwell and sighing heavily.

The private doctor arrived and performed a full examination on Bella. To avoid any mistakes, they even brought in a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.

However, they unanimously concluded that Bella was indeed pregnant.

"How is this possible?" Maxwell couldn't believe it. Surely he knew his own body better than anyone?

Maxwell broke free from the servants and ran out.
