Leaving the Wrong Love Behind Forever novel Chapter 15

Maxwell gave Bella only a concerned glance before receiving another punch from Arthur, making him hiss in pain.

After that, he no longer paid attention to Bella on the ground, dismissively saying:

"If it hurts, call an ambulance or find a doctor. I can't help you now!"

Arthur landed another kick on Maxwell's knee, sneering, "Are you giving up? Realizing you can't beat me and need a doctor?"

"Ha! Never. Arthur Bridgewater, Alison will only ever be mine!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, they resumed their brutal fight.

After what seemed like an eternity, both men were covered in injuries, their movements becoming slower and more labored.

Only then did Alison speak briefly into her phone.

Shortly afterward, three ambulances arrived and took the injured parties away.

Alison only boarded the ambulance carrying Arthur.

Watching Alison's figure disappear, Maxwell lay on the stretcher in despair, feeling a pain that cut to his very soul.

He had truly lost her.

With agony coursing through his entire body, he surrendered to unconsciousness.

When he regained consciousness, there was no one by his side.

In the past, whenever he was injured because of Alison, she would never leave his side, caring for him attentively.

She would change his bandages, her eyes filled with concern.

"Maxwell, why are you so foolish? Why did you have to fight them?"

He would force a smile despite the pain, pretending to be fine. "It's nothing. This doesn't hurt at all. You can only be mine! Anyone who tries to touch you deserves to die!"

She would smile helplessly. "Please don't do this anymore. I'll only ever be yours, only ever love you. I won't even look at anyone else. What are you so worried about?"

What had he been so worried about? Losing her forever.

He turned his face slightly, avoiding her outstretched hand.

Not wanting her care? Was it because he was genuinely concerned about her injuries, or because she wasn't Alison—not the person he wanted to see?

Bella bit her lip hard, suppressing the hurt she felt, and carefully nestled against Maxwell.

"I just want to be with you, Maxwell. I'll only feel better once I know you're okay."

"Maxwell, Alison... she's married to my brother now. What will you do? How could she do this to you after all your years together?"

"After everything she's done, do you still want to be with her? Can't you... can't you look at me instead?"

As she spoke, she took his hand and placed it over her heart, trying to make him feel her sincerity.

"Maxwell, I'm no worse than Alison. You care about me too, I know it. I don't want to just be your little sister anymore. I want our wedding to be real. Please?"

Bella looked at him almost pleadingly, but only received an apologetic gaze in return.
