Leaving the Wrong Love Behind Forever novel Chapter 11

At the same moment, the officiants at both weddings spoke in unison:

"Do you take this person to be your lawfully wedded spouse, to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, to love and to cherish from this day forward until death do you part?"

Alison and Arthur looked at each other, seeing the determination in each other's eyes, and answered together: "I do!"

However, on the other side, only one excited female voice was heard.

"I do," Bella said shyly, looking at Maxwell, waiting for his answer.

His lips moved several times, but he couldn't seem to form the words. As Bella's face began to overlap with Alison's in his mind, he finally managed to force out those two words.

"I... do."

Bella's face paled slightly, but she maintained her flawless smile.

"Maxwell, I'm so happy to marry you today. I truly feel blessed."

She threw herself into his arms, her eyes curved with joy.

Maxwell instinctively shifted his gaze away, offering only a brief "Mm" in response.

"Now, the groom may kiss the bride."

As soon as the officiant spoke these words, Maxwell's friends began to chant:

"Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"

Amid the chanting, Bella closed her eyes slightly, her lashes trembling with anticipation.

But Maxwell felt no desire to kiss her.

Wasn't this exactly what he wanted?

Shouldn't he be kissing her right now?

Yet for some reason, his thoughts kept drifting to Alison.

The nagging thought he'd been suppressing surfaced again.

Was that really not her in the wedding car?

Unconsciously, Maxwell scanned the crowd, his eyes searching particularly among his group of friends.

Bella hadn't even felt the kiss when he pulled away, his body gradually distancing itself from hers.

No one else noticed. They all cheered and applauded, celebrating their happiness.

The more joyful the scene appeared, the darker Maxwell's expression became.

As the officiant announced they would proceed to the next step, Maxwell abruptly cut in:

"The wedding ends here today."

Without another word, he left the ceremony, desperate to confirm the suspicion growing in his heart.

The venue erupted into chaos, with people whispering and speculating.

"What just happened? The wedding is over just like that?"

"The officiant clearly had more planned. Look at the bride—she obviously didn't know this was coming."

"Poor girl. Maxwell went all out for this wedding. Wasn't this supposed to be true love? Is this how true love ends?"

One comment after another reached Bella's ears. Her face turned ashen, the elaborate wedding gown now a burden that prevented her from chasing after him.
