Leaving the Wrong Love Behind Forever novel Chapter 12

"Maxwell!"

Bella's cry was joined by shouts from his friends.

His footsteps paused briefly, but he never looked back.

Everyone present understood that this beautiful dream had shattered completely.

Bella collapsed to the ground in despair, her tears soaking the hem of her dress, but no one stepped forward to comfort her.

Maxwell had only one thought: find Alison.

He couldn't wait any longer. He feared that if he missed this chance, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

Even if it was just a case of mistaken identity, that was better than losing her forever.

A wedding ceremony could always be redone, but if he lost her, it would be permanent.

Maxwell got into his car and called his assistant.

"Check all weddings happening in the city today—particularly those as grand as mine. Find out who's getting married and where. I need this information immediately!"

The assistant quickly agreed and assembled a team of investigators.

Meanwhile, Maxwell drove along the route they had taken, searching for any possible wedding venues.

After what seemed like an endless search, just as he was about to give up, his assistant called with news that left him hesitant to speak.

"Mr. Grayson... there's only one wedding that matches your criteria. It's... Mr. Johnson's. He's holding his ceremony at South Mountain Estate, and the bride appears to be... Miss White?"

Before he could finish, Maxwell's phone crashed against the dashboard.

The car pulled over sharply. Even without his assistant's confirmation, he knew that Arthur and Alison were getting married today.

Because right in front of him, they were walking out of the marriage registry office, holding bright red marriage certificates!

Maxwell felt his vision go black with rage. His fist slammed against the steering wheel.

"Alison!"

The name was forced through his clenched teeth.

"Maxwell, what are you doing here?"

Seeing her protective stance and distant attitude, Maxwell felt his heart shatter completely.

He let out a bitter laugh, though his eyes remained filled with frost.

"That's what I should be asking you, Alison."

"Aren't you supposed to be in Bali? Why are you at the registry office? You married him? I'm your boyfriend—are you treating me like I'm already dead?"

Maxwell gripped Alison's shoulders tightly, his voice rising to a desperate shout.

The next moment, Arthur intertwined his fingers with Alison's and methodically pried Maxwell's fingers away, one by one, his tone deliberately provocative:

"I'm sorry, Maxwell, but I'm Alison's husband now. It's official. And you? You're nothing."

With assertive dominance, he reclaimed Alison into his embrace.

She leaned against him naturally, giving Maxwell a cold stare.
