Leaving the Wrong Love Behind Forever novel Chapter 10

On her wedding day, Alison was preparing to change into her wedding dress when Maxwell called.

"Alison, have you reached Bali? How's the scenery?"

"Yes, it's beautiful," she replied calmly as she removed her robe and slipped into the wedding gown.

Hearing the rustle of fabric through the phone, Maxwell frowned slightly.

"Alison, what are you doing?"

She was about to answer when a groomsman called out to Maxwell:

"Max, it's time to pick up the bride!"

Maxwell tensed immediately and hastily ended the call. Then, realizing his mistake, he quickly sent a text message to explain.

"Sorry Alison, I accidentally hung up. Enjoy your time there. I'll come get you when I'm done with work."

Alison responded with practiced calm. "Sure, handle your business."

Seeing that Alison wasn't suspicious, Maxwell finally relaxed.

After ending the call, Alison finished putting on her wedding dress and applying her makeup.

Outside the hotel, a line of luxury cars waited, forming a procession that stretched into the distance.

Arthur stood tall and distinguished beside the lead Rolls-Royce, immaculate in a perfectly tailored black suit, his entire demeanor exuding nobility and an unapproachable air.

When Alison appeared, his lips curved slightly upward, his cool voice carrying a hint of teasing.

"Mrs. Johnson, I've come to marry you."

Alison's cheeks flushed instantly. Not wanting to be outdone, she placed her hand in his with remarkable composure and smiled.

"Mr. Johnson, I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you."

They sat in the wedding car and began their journey.

Halfway to the venue, they suddenly encountered another wedding procession coming from the opposite direction.

Both convoys stopped, following the tradition of exchanging bridal bouquets.

As the windows lowered, Alison found herself staring directly into Maxwell's shocked eyes!

"Alison? How is this possible?"

Maxwell's pupils contracted in disbelief, his voice trembling with incomprehension.

"Stop the car!"

He shouted urgently, but Arthur immediately signaled his driver to continue.

Maxwell's driver, caught off guard, simply stepped on the gas and continued forward.

And so, the two wedding processions drove off in opposite directions, neither looking back.

Maxwell remained in a state of shock, staring out the window. Bella called his name several times before he responded.

"Maxwell? Maxwell!"

"Hmm? What is it?"

As Alison's wedding car disappeared into the distance, he finally sat upright, coming back to his senses.

Bella bit her rosy lip, feeling uneasy, but still managed a smile.

Half the city's young elite had gathered for this wedding.

Many weren't even aware that Maxwell wasn't marrying his longtime girlfriend.

Amidst a chorus of congratulations, he took Bella's hand, helping her with the intricate train of her wedding gown as they walked step by step toward the officiant.

Yet, with each step, a sensation of regret washed over him.

In this wedding, he wasn't feeling the joy he had anticipated.

Looking at Bella smiling sweetly beside him, something felt off.

It was as if... the bride standing next to him shouldn't be Bella, but... Alison?

The moment this thought crossed his mind, Maxwell froze, his footsteps halting.

Several puzzled glances were directed his way.

"Maxwell, what's wrong?" Bella tugged at his sleeve, whispering.

Maxwell shook his head, somewhat dazed. "Nothing."

Then, he continued walking.

Inwardly, he kept reminding himself that this was a beautiful dream he had created for himself and Bella. When the dream ended, he would return to his normal life.

Tomorrow, everything would be as it always was.

He would fly to Bali to be with Alison, and they would be the same as before.

But no matter how many times he tried to convince himself, something had irrevocably changed.
