Hollis frowned. "We didn't correct him because we couldn't get a word in! We..."
Blossom interrupted her again.
"I don't care. I love Axel, and I'm going to be with him. If you really love me, you'll help me win him over!"
Hollis was speechless.
She opened her mouth to argue, but Folly discreetly nudged her, signaling her to drop it.
Axel had just made it past the critical stage the night before, and their daughter was finally in slightly better spirits. He didn't want to upset her again.
Plus, she made a valid point. Didn't heroes deserve an outpouring of love?
Their current actions were actively depriving a hero of that very love.
Hollis shot Folly a disapproving look. Before she could speak, her phone rang.
It was one of her students calling about a work matter.
Hollis stood up and walked out of the room to answer it.
Folly sat by the hospital bed, looking at Blossom with an earnest expression.
"Your mother might sound harsh, but she's just worried about you. Everything she says is out of love."
Blossom sighed. "I know you both love me, and I totally get where you're coming from. But trying to force me away from Axel? That's not happening."
Folly sighed softly. He was about to speak when Blossom beat him to it.
"If I forced you to divorce Mom right now, would you do it?"
Folly deadpanned. "That's completely different."
"It's exactly the same!" Blossom countered. "I love Axel, and I don't want to lose him, just like you love Mom and wouldn't want to lose her."
"Dad, you have to help me with this. We're the only two people in this family with the same last name. If you don't have my back, who will?"
"You always call me your little princess. Well, your princess needs your help now. Are you in or out?"
Folly was at a loss. "...How am I supposed to help?"
After a long mental debate, Folly let out a heavy breath.
"I'll figure out a way to get your mother to leave. But you have to promise me one thing. If—and I mean if—Axel absolutely refuses to be with you, you won't do anything stupid."
"You can't swear off men for the rest of your life. You have to move on and find someone else. We won't be around forever."
"Having someone who truly cares for you is the only way we'll be able to rest in peace when our time comes."
Blossom choked up, her eyes welling with tears as she threw her arms around Folly. "Thanks, Dad."
Folly sighed quietly, patting her back.
"We'll always love you. You'll always be my perfect little princess."
Hollis walked back into the room and saw the two hugging. "What's going on?" she asked, stepping closer.
Blossom wiped her eyes. "Nothing. I just wanted a hug from my dad."
Hollis opened her mouth to say something, but Folly exhaled sharply, stood up, and pulled her out of the room.
