Chris immediately looked ahead. "What's the situation around the target?"
"I'm accessing the traffic cameras and satellite feed."
Several seconds passed.
"Traffic is normal. No large vehicles have entered or left the area in the past fifteen minutes."
"What about the device's signal?" Chris asked immediately.
"It's still at the same location."
Chris slowly rubbed his chin. "Let's hope we're not too late this time."
Four minutes later, the convoy began slowing down. The main road they had been following gave way to a narrow lane lined with towering trees on both sides. The dense buildings gradually disappeared, replaced by old houses standing far apart from one another.
Brandon switched off the vehicle's headlights.
The vehicles behind immediately did the same. Moments later, the entire convoy came to a stop beneath the cover of the thick trees, about five hundred meters from the coordinates Paula had provided. The engines were shut off almost simultaneously.
Silence immediately settled over the area.
Chris opened the door first and stepped out without haste. The cool morning air greeted him at once. He surveyed the surroundings for several seconds before shifting his attention to an old house that stood faintly visible beyond the trees.
Not long afterward, Gio and the members of the Tier One team climbed out of the other vehicles as well. Everyone moved quickly but silently. Bulletproof vests were secured, communication headsets were checked one last time, and firearms were confirmed to be ready for use.
The only sounds that broke the silence were the faint rustling of tactical gear as each operative prepared for the mission.
Brandon walked over to Chris, carrying a tablet directly connected to the command center. "The drone is ready for launch."
Chris nodded. "Do it."
One of the team members immediately opened a medium-sized black case. From inside, a small drone was carefully lifted out before its propellers began spinning slowly.
A soft hum filled the air. The drone gradually rose off the ground. Moments later, its propellers accelerated before it shot through the dense canopy of trees toward the target location. Back at Black Tower's command center, Paula immediately took control.
The main monitor switched to a high-resolution aerial camera feed. The target house gradually came into view from multiple angles.
"We have visual," Paula reported.
Chris immediately shifted his attention to the tablet in Brandon's hands.
The old colonial-style house stood well away from the residential area. Its spacious yard was enclosed by an iron fence nearly two meters high. From above, the property appeared quiet. There was no sign of suspicious activity.
But then...
Paula suddenly zoomed in on one side of the yard.
"Wait."
Chris immediately focused his gaze. "What is it?"
"There are two men." The drone camera slowly moved closer to the garage.
