Meanwhile, the atmosphere inside Black Tower's command center had become far busier than it had been just a few hours earlier. Dozens of digital screens continuously shifted, displaying an endless stream of moving data, while the sound of clacking keyboards blended with the brief reports coming in from various divisions through the internal communication channels.
No one left their station. Even the cup of coffee beside Paula had long since lost its warmth without being touched again.
She remained focused on the signal graph that had been disappearing and reappearing at random since morning. Time and again, she zoomed in on the same data, hoping to find the pattern that had remained hidden all this time. Then, at last...
A tiny red dot blinked once more in the corner of the screen.
Paula immediately straightened in her seat. "Wait..." Her fingers instantly flew across the tablet. Several new windows appeared on the main monitor, displaying rows of digital code that began moving faster and faster.
"It's active again."
Brandon, who had been standing behind Paula the entire time, immediately stepped closer. His eyes swept across every line of data that continued to accumulate. "Zoom in."
Paula didn't need to be told twice. Within seconds, the identity of the device they had been tracking filled the main screen.
Chris, who had just entered the command center, stopped in his tracks. "Is that the same device?"
Paula nodded firmly without taking her eyes off the monitor. "The digital ID matches."
Brandon narrowed his eyes. "Falcon. More specifically, the phone he's been using as his primary device."
The room fell silent again. The only sound was the constant hum of the server cooling fans. A few seconds later, a new graph appeared on the screen.
Paula frowned. "Something's wrong."
"What is it?"
"This isn't normal activity."
She immediately opened the detailed communication log that had just been recorded. Rows of numbers filled the screen before finally stopping on a single line that made Brandon immediately lean forward. "An international call."
Brandon's eyes sharpened. "To where?"
Paula enlarged the data once more. "Germany."
For the first time that morning, the corner of Brandon's lips lifted into a faint smile. "Falcon finally made a mistake."
"The call didn't last long," Paula continued. "Less than thirty seconds."
"That's more than enough." Brandon immediately pulled out his phone. "My people managed to capture the reflected signal."
