Chapter 725
Voices continued coming at them the second they entered the main lobby. Yet Cale kept walking calmly, as though handling all of it at once was completely normal for him.
Lydia walked beside him, occasionally helping receive some of the files handed over by the staff. “I just realized your life really is troublesome.”
“Just realized that now?”
“Now I understand why you always look like you want to fire everyone.”
Cale actually laughed hearing that come from his wife. “That’s because most of them are troublesome. More importantly, they can’t keep up with my work pace. I don’t like wasting money paying slow people.”
“Good grief.” Lydia rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Thank goodness you’re not my boss. Otherwise-”
“Otherwise?” Cale cut her off the moment they stepped into the elevator.
Before Lydia could react, he had already cornered her slightly, mischief flickering clearly in his eyes. Several employees who had been about to enter the elevator immediately backed away, suddenly deciding not to ride with Cale and Lydia after all.
“CALE!” Lydia yelped in surprise.
“What?” Cale looked entirely unapologetic. “Besides, they know you’re my wife. Is it wrong if I flirt with you a little in front of them?”
Lydia pinched his arm hard enough to make him wince. “You impossible man!”
“I just want to know what it feels like to be Daven whenever Althea accompanies him to the office,” Cale complained while rubbing the spot she had pinched. “Ugh, I’m pretty sure you left a bruise.”
“Good!”
The elevator doors opened again.
A few employees waiting outside looked startled when they saw their boss standing there beside a woman they recognized instantly from the photos circulating in the staff group chats. Cale Miller’s wife.
They quickly bowed respectfully and stepped aside to let Cale and Lydia pass. A few whispers accidentally reached Lydia’s ears while Cale casually wrapped an arm around her waist in an openly possessive gesture. He barely paid attention to the greetings around him. Right now, his mind was already occupied with the mountain of work waiting for him.
“Mrs. Miller is so beautiful.”
“I honestly don’t know who’s luckier. Mrs. Miller or Mr. Miller.”
“Did you see the way Mr. Miller held his wife? I can’t believe that stiff man can actually be romantic.’
Hearing all of that made Lydia let out a small laugh.
“What are you laughing at?” Cale asked, confused.
“I don’t know.” Lydia shrugged lightly. “I think your employees here are pretty entertaining.”
Cale pushed open the door to his office with an easy motion, then gestured for Lydia to make herself comfortable

on the sofa in the middle of the room. He instructed someone to prepare a few things she might need while she waited for him to work.
The next few hours passed in a flurry of activity. Lydia helped with several light tasks inside Cale’s office, from reviewing overseas partnership documents to reorganizing schedules that had fallen into chaos because of their security situation.
“You’ve truly been a huge help today, Mrs. Lydia,” Liu said with a broad smile. Several files still rested in his hands, all waiting for Cale’s review. Normally, Liu would have to wait quite a while before Cale gave his approval, and even then, the revisions were usually endless.
But with Lydia sitting in the office beside him, the work moved much faster.
“Today’s salary should belong to Lydia instead of you, Liu,” Cale said flatly without even looking up from the report spread across his desk.
Liu nearly choked on air. “B-But, Sir-”
