Chapter 479
The television screen in the living room glowed brightly. Selena had deliberately turned the volume up. There was no one else in the apartment anyway-Eli had already left for school, and she had intentionally sent Silvia out to do the grocery shopping. There were plenty of household items she claimed they needed-anything to keep Silvia lingering at the supermarket, because Selena was certain the woman would want to gossip about the
news.
A glass of lemon juice rested in her hand, keeping her company that morning. She lounged comfortably; her gaze fixed on the television screen. Daven’s face dominated nearly every broadcast-framed beneath bold headlines that painted him as the villain.
The corner of Selena’s lips curved upward slowly. “Perfect,” she murmured, satisfied.
Her phone vibrated on the table, drawing her attention. Harold’s name flashed across the screen. She answered without hesitation.
“You’ve seen the news?” Harold asked from the other end, his tone light, a trace of undisguised satisfaction woven into his voice.
“Of course. Almost every channel is running stories about how the CEO of Callister Group suddenly dominates their front pages,” Selena replied. “The SunCity media is swallowing it whole. Though honestly, if not for the generous payments, they’d probably think twice before smearing Daven Callister this badly turning him into the epicenter of every mess.”
Harold chuckled softly. “I don’t care how much it costs to make him look like this. Consider it the opening act for the real fun.”
Selena switched to another channel. The scene was the same-only now the focus had shifted to the protest unfolding in front of the company’s grand office lobby. “You’re executing your plan with impressive precision.”
“I knew this would happen,” Harold said calmly. “I don’t even know how many times I imagined today, Selena. Years. In the solitude of prison walls, I planned the perfect revenge against them. I was patient enough to make sure everything worked. So if you’re praising me now, I don’t feel proud. All of this has lived in my head for a long time.”
There was a brief pause between them. Selena took another sip of her lemon juice, her eyes never leaving the news footage of Daven.
“What about Eli?” Harold asked.
The question made her release a short breath. “Just go ahead with your plan.”
Harold laughed. “So you’ve finally given up?”
Selena clicked her tongue in irritation. “It’s not giving up. I’m just growing more annoyed with his attitude. He hesitates too much. Asks too many questions about why all of this has to be done.”
“He’s still a child,” Harold said.
“Exactly,” Selena cut in sharply. “Children should be easy to steer. You know, I’ve had a leash around his neck for years-but the longer this goes on, the more he refuses to obey me. If only he were already living in the main Miller house, the rest of our plan could move forward immediately. All he has to do is follow along.”

Harold laughed louder this time. “You sounded so confident before that Eli could handle his role. But now?” “Laugh all you want,” Selena snapped. “I don’t like waiting too long. If you want even more explosive news to break tomorrow, go ahead. I won’t stop you.”
“Good,” Harold said, clearly pleased. “I thought I’d wait another week, just like you asked.”
“I can’t wait any longer. Besides, isn’t this the perfect moment? We shouldn’t waste the opportunity in front of us. What do you think-am I pushing too hard?”
“No,” Harold replied lightly. “I’ve already prepared plenty of things for your appearance in the headlines. I’m certain the news about you will hit the Miller family hard.”
Selena’s grin widened in satisfaction. “I’ll leave it to you.”
“Tomorrow the media will be far louder,” Harold continued. “Make sure Eli is in the right place.”
“He’ll be exactly where you want him,” Selena answered curtly.
