It is Vanessa who immerses herself in a whirlwind of distractions—dashing off to social galas, auditioning for films, and flitting from one fashion extravaganza to another without so much as a backward glance, as if her marriage holds no weight. And let’s not forget her tendency to linger for hours in boutiques and art galleries, as though she has completely erased the notion of home from her mind.”

“Don’t twist this around!” Theo’s voice was sharp, slicing through the air like a knife.

“I’m not twisting anything, Mr. Theo. I’m merely presenting the truth as it stands. And should you require evidence to support my claims… I can certainly provide that.”

At this, Theo’s body stiffened momentarily, a flash of crimson creeping up his neck as he wrestled with his anger.
