HIS REGRET (Ex-Husband wants Me Back) novel Chapter 1078

"Your ex is quite something. She didn't take long to move on from you and turn to Miller's basketball star."

"I told you, stop talking about her!" David snapped, making his teammate raise his hands in surrender and stop talking.

David clenched both hands tightly at the edge of the court.

His male pride was deeply wounded, while curiosity mixed with anger rumbled in his chest. "There are more important things than that. She is just my past that I need to forget."

"All right. I'm sorry," David's friend said.

David stared sharply at his friend. "Don't think I'm angry like this because I haven't forgotten my ex-girlfriend. I just don't want to talk about something that no longer matters."

"You're right. We should practice again instead of thinking about things that don't matter." Another Raven teammate invited David to return to practice.

"Come on, get back here!" the coach shouted from the corner of the court. "We still have several more sessions."

"Yes, Coach!" they answered in unison.

Before they realized it, the energy-draining practice had come to an end. David and the team gathered to discuss their next strategy. Then they dispersed to rest their bodies before actually heading home.

Meanwhile, in the basketball court stands, Natalie sat beside David.

"Have some water first, David. You must be exhausted after practicing all day," she said gently as she offered him a bottle of cold mineral water with the sweetest smile she had.

David accepted the bottle, took a few sips, then let out a heavy sigh. "Thank you, Natalie. Today's practice really drained me."

"I understand. This is a very important game for you and the Raven team," Natalie replied attentively. "I will always support you, no matter how tired I am from accompanying you."

David glanced at her, feeling slightly relieved amid the immense pressure ahead of the game the day after tomorrow.

"You're the only one who truly understands what I'm going through right now, Nat. Not like other people who can only cause trouble."

The corner of Natalie's lips lifted slightly into a hidden sneer, which she immediately concealed with her feigned sweet expression.

"Forget it. You don't need to think about someone who has disappointed you over and over again. You should avoid stress now and focus on this semifinal. Don't let those thoughts interfere with your game."
