Chad's secretary led Morgan out of the casino. Across the dark street sat a top-tier Rolls-Royce. Even in the dim light, the luxury car commanded attention. As they approached, a bodyguard stepped out and sprayed Morgan right in the face with a bottle of air freshener. "Cough, cough!" Morgan choked, his eyes watering as he shielded his face. The bodyguard aggressively sprayed him from head to toe, coating him in the scent. "What the hell are you doing?" Morgan roared. The secretary offered a thin smile. "Apologies, Morgan. Our boss is a bit of a germaphobe. He despises the stench of low-end casinos, so we had to improvise." The secretary opened the door and gestured for Morgan to get in. Fuming, Morgan climbed into the back seat. But the moment his eyes met Chad's, an indescribable, crushing pressure hit him. Morgan used to be a ruthless gangster who made billionaires tremble. It was absurd to think he would feel fear sitting next to a sickly looking young man. But this was no longer the frail, helpless teenager he had bullied two decades ago. Chad was still pale, but he radiated the cold, lethal energy of a striking viper. "It's been a long time, Morgan." Chad's voice was lazy. He did not even bother looking at the man as he pressed a pristine white handkerchief to his nose. His disgust was palpable. "It sure has. Must be twenty years." Morgan quickly gathered his composure, crossing his legs and giving Chad a mocking look. "The scrawny little kid from back then is now the big boss of the Abernathy Group. Time flies." Chad's pale lips curved into a cold, predatory smile. "Time does fly. I just never expected you to have the guts to show your face in Elmsworth again." "I couldn't stop worrying about my old friend, so I came back to check on you. After all, we were partners once, right? Even if things ended badly, history is history. You can't just erase the past." Morgan narrowed his eyes, clearly sending a threat. He wanted Chad to remember that he was the mastermind behind Thaddeus's kidnapping. But greed had gotten the better of Morgan back then. He had tried to use Chad to extort even more money from the Abernathy family. That mistake had destroyed his crew, put a bounty on his head, and forced him into hiding for twenty years. Now, he was back because he was tired of running. Mason Austin had also played a part in his return. Morgan was here to stir up trouble. Chad knew exactly why this scumbag was sitting in his car. He knew Morgan's sudden bravery came from Mason's backing. Mason wanted Morgan to be a knife hanging over Chad's head to control and threaten him. What an excellent uncle. Chad had originally thought Mason was helping him seize power. But now he realized he was just a tool in Mason's game. Since that was the case, there was no need to hesitate. "Since I invited you into my car, it means I don't care about our past grudges." Chad smiled darkly. "I want to make a deal." "What kind of deal?" "I know my uncle sent you to keep me in line. But a man of your talents shouldn't be working for a psychopath with a criminal record who might end up on a global wanted list. You're better off working for me. I can promise you double whatever he's paying. If you want to stay in Elmsworth, I'm the only one who can make that happen. My uncle will just use you as a pawn to threaten me. That's all he's good for." Morgan was slightly taken aback by how easily Chad had read the situation. Chad's eyes darkened. "Everything my uncle has right now, he got from me. I'm the one who pulled the strings and found a scapegoat to serve his prison sentence. Without me, he's nothing. But I don't have that problem. I am the rightful heir of the Abernathy family. Soon, I'll control the entire group. As for the kidnapping twenty years ago, who cares? I was a minor. I couldn't be held legally responsible. And even if I could, it's been twenty years. All the evidence is gone. What are you going to charge me with?" The air in the car turned suffocatingly cold. After a long silence, Morgan seemed to realize something. A spark of genuine respect flickered in his eyes. "Boss, you've gotten incredibly dangerous over the years." Chad smiled. "Thanks for the compliment. I'm not that reckless little boy anymore." He kept emphasizing that the person who ruthlessly harmed Thaddeus back then was just a child. It was as if that detail washed away all his sins. "What do you want me to do?" Morgan asked directly. He had never been one to waste time. Chad looked straight ahead, coughing lightly into his handkerchief. Bloodshot veins crawled up his eyes. "I want you to kill Mason Austin."
