His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 1323

"Dad." Hubery walked slowly toward Emeric and collapsed to the floor. Hot tears poured down his sharp, gaunt face. "Son, I heard you survived a plane crash?" Emeric felt his throat tighten and nearly cried himself. "How are you doing? Are you fully recovered? Walking away from something like that, you must have suffered terribly." "I'm fine, Dad. I'm doing great. It's all in the past." Hubery tried to hold back his sobs, but the tears only fell faster. "Dad, I'm so sorry. I lost my memory for a while. I forgot you, Mom, and all my siblings. I almost..." He had almost killed his own flesh and blood. The guilt was suffocating. He choked on his words, overwhelmed with regret. "Hey, what's there to be sorry about with amnesia? Look at me. I've got amnesia too. I can't remember a single one of you kids!" Emeric joked, though his eyes were red. "It doesn't matter. It's all in the past. What matters is that you're home. Dylan, hand me a pen." Dylan was confused but immediately handed a pen to Emeric. "Evadne, come here." Emeric gave the pen to Evadne and rolled up his sleeve, exposing his arm. "Write your names on my arm. I'll look at them every day until I remember. It doesn't matter if I've forgotten. As long as our bond is still there, I'll remember eventually." Evadne lowered her head, her tears dripping onto his skin. She took the pen and carefully wrote her name. "Your turn." She handed the pen to Hubery. He took it with shaking fingers. He pressed the tip against Emeric's skin and slowly wrote the name buried deep in his soul: Hubery. ... In the early hours of the morning, at the Wye Underground Casino. Crowds gathered around the green tables. The room reeked of cheap alcohol, stale smoke, and sweat. A middle-aged man was glued to a gambling table, his eyes wild as he shouted for a win. Suddenly, someone tapped his shoulder. "Who is it?" he snapped, a cigarette dangling from his lips as he turned around. The man standing behind him was dressed in a sharp suit, looking entirely out of place in the seedy casino. "Are you Morgan?" Morgan froze. Alarm bells rang in his head as he sized up the stranger. During the kidnapping case twenty years ago, four of his accomplices were caught. His own brother had taken the fall for him and received the death penalty. Morgan was the only one who escaped. He had lived under a fake name, hiding from the law and staying clear of Elmsworth to avoid the Austin family's wrath. Now, the moment he finally returned, someone had recognized him. Panic set in. The man offered a polite smile. "Mr. Thaddeus is waiting for you outside. He wants a word." Thaddeus. Morgan knew exactly who was waiting. A greedy glint flashed in his eyes as he threw his cigarette to the floor and crushed it with his shoe. "Speak of the devil. Perfect. I was just thinking about paying our old friend a visit."
