His Ex-Wife Is A Billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) novel Chapter 1144

Jason nodded grimly. “Ms. Evadne, you wait here. I’ll go inside and see what I can find out.”

“No, don’t go in yet,” Evadne said, shaking her head. “She knows you. If you run into her, it will only cause trouble. Let’s just watch and wait.”

Inside the prison, Alexia was personally received by the warden, who led her to the section for mentally ill inmates.

“I’ve had him isolated, just as you asked. He was causing some trouble a few days ago, even told a lawyer he needed legal aid. Can you believe the nerve? He must be really sick, right?” the warden said with a fawning, conspiratorial smile.

“That’s normal for mental patients.” Alexia stopped at a cell door, a cold smile playing on her lips as she heard a man’s pig-like squeals from within. She pulled a bank card from her lab coat pocket and handed it to the warden. “This is for your recent trouble. You’ve earned it.”

The warden accepted it with glee, bowing and scraping his thanks as he left.

Alexia’s expression hardened as she pushed the door open.

Inside the gray concrete cell, two orderlies were pinning a struggling man to a filthy cot. His hysterical screams made Alexia cover her ears. After a forced injection of a powerful sedative, he finally quieted down.

Alexia clicked across the floor in her sharp heels, pulling on a surgical mask as she approached him.

“Who… are… you?” the man managed to gasp.

She looked down at him as if he were an insect. “I’m the prison doctor. You’re sick, and I’m here to treat you.”

The man’s eyes bulged with terror. “I’m… I’m not sick… I’m not crazy… I didn’t kill anyone… I’m innocent!”

“Hah. Is anyone in here truly innocent?” Alexia took a syringe from her pocket and, without another word, swiftly and precisely injected the contents into the man’s vein.

“The guard wouldn’t say who, but he said John was transferred out on medical parole due to a sudden illness.”

Medical parole?

Alexia, posing as a prison doctor, had just gone inside, and moments later, the man who was crying foul play was gone. A ghost wouldn’t believe it was a coincidence.

Evadne’s gaze grew heavy. “Alexia must have taken him out through the back entrance. To do it so quietly, she must have people on the inside.”

Jason scratched his head. “Did John really get sick? What are the odds?”

“There are no pure coincidences in this world. It’s either a ripple effect or a deliberate act,” Evadne said, her mind racing as she chewed on her lip. “John pleaded with Arnold to clear his name just a few days ago, and now Alexia has moved him. She’s obviously trying to shut him up. This means John is tangled up in something huge. We have to find him.”
