Elora acted naturally, as if she was already part of the Jensens.
Shannon figured Elora must've started building her rapport with Marie during her time away on campus.
Shannon said nothing and nodded at Marie before leading Elliot inside. Thomas had prepared the room for her knowing she'd be staying over for a couple of days.
Soon after they settled in, Scott hopped down the stairs.
"Shannon, you're back!" His eyes lit up when he saw Shannon before noticing Elliot, who he greeted warmly. "Hey, Elliot, you're here too! I was about to team up with Kai. Join us! We need a healer."
Elliot blinked confusedly, while Shannon was visibly speechless. "The type of healing he does might be a little different."
Scott replied matter-of-factly, "Healing is healing. Art transcends boundaries." He decided on the structure of the team for the game before Elliot could respond.
Then, he turned to Shannon and whispered mysteriously, "Shannon, did you see the girl with Grandma?"
Shannon eyed him. "Yes, I did."
"Don't you think Grandma's losing it? She didn't learn her lesson from Cecily, did she? You should check if the Snowdens have cursed her or something." Scott sounded worried.
Shannon shook her head. "You're overthinking. There are no curses here."
From what she saw, Marie just had a strange fondness for falling into the same trap twice.
"It's still annoying," Scott grumbled. "What if we scare her away? Shall we summon a ghost to give her a big fright?"
Scott was deeply irritated. Cecily had just left, and how Elora had appeared in her place. Marie must be losing her nuts.
As she snapped out of her thoughts, she replied, "Don't worry about Grandma. She won't let Elora into the family."
Scott perked up. "Do you have a plan?"
"Not exactly a plan, but we'll see if it works." Shannon didn't bother explaining further as she left Scott and settled Elliot in.
By lunchtime, Elora was nowhere to be seen. Though Marie had allowed her into the house, she'd never invited her for meals knowing that the Jensens had their reservations against the Snowdens.
Elliot joined them at the table. Marie was exceptionally welcoming toward Elliot who'd healed her and ordered the kitchen to prepare a lavish spread of dishes.
But when it came to Shannon, Marie visibly tensed. She knew Shannon might disapprove of her relationship with Elora, but at the same time, she felt she didn't need Shannon's approval to show affection to someone else as a grandma.
The meal ended in a sulky air.
