Sensing the disappointment in Elowen's words, Shannon simply lowered her gaze.

From Elowen's perspective, it wasn't difficult to guess why Grace chose that kind of revenge. In the end, Grace couldn't fully accept the truth that Serena had traded her best friend's life for a chance to climb higher.

Elowen smacked her lips, her eyes lingering on Shannon with a hint of curiosity. After a long pause, she murmured, "You seem to know something about human nature."

Shannon was unfazed by her stare, her expressionless calm. "I am, after all, three-quarters human."

Elowen narrowed her eyes. "Three-quarters human? What does the remainder consist of?"

Meeting her gaze, Shannon confessed, "The bloodline of the nine-tailed fox."

She then tentatively stated, "My mother is of the Wynthorpe clan."

Elowen blinked. "Wynthorpe? We share the same last name."

Seeing Shannon nod, Elowen leaned back with the cup in hand. Her perfectly concealed supernatural energy began to leak out ever so subtly, and a graceful fox tail unfurled behind her, lazily swaying.

She glanced at Shannon, her tone casual and tinged with languid amusement. "Well then, I suppose that makes me your elder."

As the words left her lips, the sharp call of a palace servant rang from outside. Mere seconds later, the door swung open without warning.

With that sudden change, the atmosphere in the room instantly turned heavy. Benjamin tensed, instinctively stepping forward to shield Shannon, but she simply tugged at his hand and remained calm.

He watched as the oppressive pressure Elowen had released quickly vanished again. She picked up her milkshake and finished the last sip, amused, like she had just found an interesting new toy.

Just then, another powerful presence appeared somewhere else in the palace.

Though its energy had been deliberately hidden, like Elowen's, Shannon still caught that familiar presence in an instant.

Elowen immediately lost interest in Benjamin and Shannon. She set the cup down and stood up lazily. "My dragon's here. I'm done playing with you boring humans."

Just as she was about to step away, something seemed to occur to her.

With a sudden flick, two fox tails burst forth from behind her and, without a word, wrapped around them both. In the next heartbeat, all three vanished from the room.
