Heiress Unmasked: Shaking the World With Geomancy novel Chapter 2020

Shannon hadn't expected such a truth, but she could sense that Louise wasn't lying.

She turned to Benjamin. When their eyes met, she understood he'd known all along. No wonder he'd never been too harsh toward the Wynthorpe clan despite their obsession with creating the Ten-Tailed Elythune; he'd known what they were trying to achieve.

Still…

"Why didn't you tell me from the beginning?" Even Thalia probably didn't know the full truth.

"This is a clan secret only told to those who have a real chance of becoming the Ten-Tailed Elythune," Louise replied.

She paused and gave Shannon a quiet look. "Plus, knowing it too early wouldn't have helped your cultivation."

Even when they'd initially chosen Hector, they'd never intended to tell him the truth either. Whether it was Hector or Shannon, they were both children raised among humans.

Despite gaining some exposure to demons, no one could be certain they would see the burden of the demon clan as their own.

Rather than appealing to reason and expecting the younger generation to embrace the cause, the demons believed in using force for suppression.

If they ever tried to resist, the clan would just summon a more powerful entity to humble them.

Yet, Louise hadn't expected both of Thalia's children to be born with the ancestral bloodline of the Ten-Tailed Elythune. One of them even carried a reincarnated soul shard.

Perhaps some things were just fated to be. Her bloodline was destined to shoulder all of this.

Shannon remained silent for a long time after hearing everything. Then, she finally looked up at Louise and Benjamin.

"So, the one targeting me and preventing the descent of the powerful demon has been the Divine Power of the alternate world all along?"

Shannon froze. When she found her voice to speak, it was low and strained. "And once it does that… then what?"

The Divine Power's current might was too thin to protect the alternate world. Shannon believed that even if it replaced the Divine Power of this world, it couldn't possibly handle the stability of both worlds as the only Divine Power.

Louise hadn't expected Shannon to grasp everything so quickly. But now that they'd come this far, she didn't mind laying it all bare.

"You should already know that the two worlds are parallel reflections of one another. From the perspective of the alternate world's Divine Power, there is no reason for two identical worlds to exist. All that does is waste more vitality and spiritual energy."

She gave a soft laugh, but her voice dripped with bitter irony as she said, "What it wants is to return everything to the beginning and merge the two worlds into one."

Shannon's pupils constricted sharply. To merge two identical worlds into one could only mean having one of them destroyed.
