One world did not need two identical versions of itself.
Shannon thought of the Jensens in this world and all the people she'd come to know, including Olivia, Vincent, Thomas, Carlos, Mike, and the many mystic masters with spiritual energy.
Once the merge occurred, no one could guarantee which version of the world would remain. If either world were destroyed, the one that survived would still be incomplete.
At that moment, it felt as though Shannon had finally caught a glimpse of the eyes above the sky, the pair of cold eyes that had been watching them from the alternate world all this time.
For the first time, Shannon's resolve hardened. She couldn't allow the demon clans to perish, and she couldn't bear to see anyone in this world vanish either. That meant she had to nip the Divine Power's thoughts in the bud.
As long as this world could awaken its Divine Power again, that would be enough, right?
"I'll do everything I can to cultivate my ten tails as soon as possible," Shannon announced.
She turned to Louise and solemnly said, "Please help me."
She couldn't achieve this alone, not if she wanted to reach that goal quickly, especially after witnessing the immense power of the Ten-Tailed Elythune.
Right now, the gap between her and the Ten-Tailed Elythune was far too great.
Louise raised an eyebrow and was slightly surprised by how quickly she'd regained her composure from the heavy truth. She gazed back at Shannon and asked, "Aren't you afraid I might have ulterior motives?"
"What you seek is nothing more than the future of the Wynthorpe and demon clans. In this clan, there are people I care about."
That included Thalia, Kai, her classmates from Zaprath School, Luke, Reuben, and even Louise standing in front of her. Of course, not forgetting Benjamin.
She, the demon clan, and this world full of people she treasured, were now bound too tightly to ever be separated.
She had to grow strong enough that when she faced the Divine Power again, she wouldn't have to powerlessly endure the beatings.
Just as that thought crossed her mind, a warm hand gently wrapped around hers. Shannon turned her head, only to meet Benjamin's deep, steady eyes.
She didn't know when it started, but she could see past the blinding golden light around him and clearly make out his face.
He looked at her and said, "Don't rush. I'll be by your side all the way."
It wasn't to shield her, but to walk beside her to anywhere she wished to go.
Shannon's fingers tightened as she instinctively responded to his grasp. Feeling the warmth beneath the golden light seep into her heart, she was slowly brought back to peace.
As she smiled, her eyes sparkled. She looked at him and nodded. "Yes. Let's do it together."
