If it hadn't been for Shannon drawing away the mystic light sustaining the illusions to stand up against the Ten-Tailed Elythune, most contestants would probably still be confronting the illusions in the domain.
They were all proud elites of the mystic arts community and demon clans. They silently vowed that one day, they would rely solely on their strength to erase the enemies and lingering attachments in their hearts.
When that day came, they too would experience self-transcendence just as Shannon had. Eventually, they would take up the mantle of their elders and hold the future in their hands.
…
Though the results of the second duel were voided, the third duel of the tournament proceeded as planned.
To everyone's disappointment, Shannon did not participate in the third duel. Part of the reason was Louise's direct interference with her trial, and more importantly, Shannon could no longer restrain herself from using her supernatural powers.
With seven tails formed and her mind domain awakened, it would be unfair to her peers if she used those abilities in battle.
Rather than continue, it was better to exit early. She no longer had any strong desire to win the tournament at this point.
Even so, Shannon was the undisputed champion in the hearts of everyone participating in this year's mystical tournament.
For the final results of the mystical tournament, Lexie and Heston jointly claimed first place in the individual match. But they voluntarily withdrew from the top spot and opted to claim second place instead, leaving the first place empty.
But that was a story for another time.
…
After the second duel ended, Shannon returned with Louise to Wynthorpe Manor.
"Demons were born by drawing upon spiritual energy from nature. Compared to humans, we need far more to survive, so with spiritual energy dwindling, our bloodlines and legacies are at risk.
"According to the elders of demon clans, if this continues, both the Wynthrope clan and demons as a whole will be the first to face extinction. We will vanish.
"That is why we must call upon the Divine Power to preserve the demon clan and the last remnants of spiritual energy in this world."
Though the Divine Power had scattered, it would always leave behind a single thread of hope for the world. That sliver of hope was a primordial source of energy left behind before the Divine Power dissipated entirely.
Louise continued, "Of all spiritual beings in the world, only the Ten-Tailed Elythune is capable of communing with the Divine Power. If we are to summon the Divine Power once more, it must be through the Ten-Tailed Elythune."
That was the truth of why the Wynthorpe clan was so desperate to recreate the Ten-Tailed Elythune. It wasn't just for the Wynthorpe clan but for the entire demon race.
