Rose's phone message box was filled almost entirely with love letters from Houston. The content was extremely tender and sentimental.
For example, "The motivation for my job is to keep buying things for my lovely wife. So, darling, never be frugal. You can't deprive me of my work motivation."
"I missed you ten years ago. In the years to come, I don't want to miss a single moment with you. Rose, no matter the weather, no matter rich or poor, I'll be with you, through thick and thin. Okay?"
Vivian's heart was washed over by Houston's deep affection and loyalty. Although she was past the age of blushing at sweet words, every single one of Houston's love messages made her heart flutter.
After reading Houston's love letters, Vivian checked Ethan's call logs, messages, and all social media platforms. Rose's face turned dark as she said, "I've blocked his contact."
Vivian's face turned ashen.
Just then, a strange number sent a text message. Judging from the tone, it was undoubtedly from Ethan.
"Rose, I'm sorry. I really am. I had no idea that leaving you would make you so desperate. Desperate enough to marry just anyone."
Vivian's anger flared up like a storm when she saw the message. She pointed at the strange number and accused Rose, "You claim you have no contact with him, but you're communicating in such a secretive way?"
Rose was too angry to speak.
Houston, dressed in long-sleeved black loungewear, walked over and possessively pulled Rose into his arms. He then scolded Vivian irritably, "Ms. Vivian, your man is the one who's cheating. If you can't control him, don't come to Rose with your accusations. Rose isn't some pushover you can toy with."
Vivian looked at Houston in disbelief. "Houston, you should be on my side. Rose and Ethan clearly still have feelings for each other."
Houston exploded in anger. "You don't trust Ethan because you're both morally corrupt. You'll never feel secure in a relationship. But I trust Rose. She's loyal, just like me."
Rose gazed at Houston, feeling warmth in her heart from his protection.
I remembered how I and Ethan used to argue because of Vivian's inappropriate interference. I had accused Ethan of neglecting my birthday to take care of Vivian, and he always called me petty. I had swallowed my grievances and told myself not to overthink it.
But it turned out I wasn't overthinking it. I was just too naive. My blind trust in Ethan had given him the chance to deceive me.
Vivian shouted, "Houston, you're too naive."
Houston replied coldly, "It's Rose who's naive. Vivian, you used to be able to deceive her, but you won't get away with it anymore. Get out of here. If it weren't for the fact that you're pregnant, I'd have a hard time controlling my urge to hit a woman."
Vivian, furious and humiliated, retorted, "Houston, don't regret it when you end up betraying by Rose."
Thwack——
After all, someone who could hit a pregnant woman might one day turn violent against our own daughter.
