The two of them were fooling around. It was obviously a very heavy topic, but somehow, they made it seem lighter.
After a while, Lindey got up. Zayn hugged her waist and asked, “Where are you going?”
"Stop playing. I'm getting my phone." Lindsey gently patted the back of his hand signaling for him to let go.
Zayn did not let go of her and hugged her tighter. “Why do you need your phone?”
Lindsey did not look back and said as a matter of fact, “I’m getting the Finance Department to cash out $500 million to pay your debt.”
"There's no rush." Zayn pulled her back, and the two of them collapsed back onto the sofa. His tone carried that arrogance from when he was the President of Denarius. "Just get the Product Department to hurry up and hand over that batch of robots to me. You don’t need to bother about the rest."
Lindsey pouted in frustration and denied it. “I didn’t ask them to delay your product..."
"I didn't say it was you..." Zayn laughed. "Look at you giving yourself away!"
Lindsey knew that she had let her tongue slip and pounced on him to cover his mouth.
When Zayn saw her like this, he just felt like he had not been in such a good mood in a long time.
The two of them were nestled together and time seemed to pass extraordinarily slowly. If they could just be like this forever, they would have no regrets.
"Why wasn’t I aware that you knew Alfred Jenner before?" Lindsey was curious.
There were too many questions she wanted to ask Zayn, and this was the most irrelevant one that came to mind first.
“The first time I met him, he asked me if I was Zayn Guggenheim. I didn't admit it, but he later found out from somewhere and was adamant that I was. At that time, he had a project with Denarius, so I played along saying that I want to be his partner.”
Zayn’s leg was bent as he explained slowly and asked, “Is my voice now really harsh?”
Lindsey shook her head. "It's fine after getting used to it."
It was just a little more hoarse than normal.
"Oh right." Lindsey thought of their first meeting. "How did you end up in Salem City at that time?"
This time, Zayn gave her a deep look before he said, "At that time, I came back from abroad. The Jipsons are based in Salem City and helped me to make an appointment with a doctor there."
"Then how’s your recovery?" Lindsey asked again. This was the first time she asked about his health since they met, so she was a bit cautious.
Zayn subconsciously reached out and touched his cheek, then squeezed out a smile. "Apart from being ugly, everything else is pretty much the same."
"Ugly or not, I still like you." Lindsey could not conscientiously tell Zayn that he looked handsome now, but to her, Zayn was just himself and nothing was more important than him being right in front of her at this moment.
Zayn smiled and looked at her with a pensive face. After a moment, he laughed and said, "Mrs. Guggenheim, if you keep confessing your love to me like this, I’ll mistakenly think that you’re head over heels in love with me."
"That's right, Mr. Guggenheim." Lindsey looked into Zayn's eyes as if she wanted him to look through them into her heart. "I love you so much that I just can't help myself."
When she thought of those days when she lost him, she always regretted that she did not get to say “I love you” to him more.
Zayn could see the sadness hidden inside those watery brown eyes and felt suffocated. He murmured in Lindsey's ear, "You little fool...me too..."
He was madly in love with her too.
Moreover, Dezi was still too young and could not control his emotions. Even though he might know that man was his father, he might still get scared.
This matter was thus settled for the time being.
After a few moments of silence, Lindsey suddenly sat up. "Are you hungry?"
Zayn shook his head. He never really felt hungry.
"Have you had dinner?" Lindsey asked again.
Zayn originally wanted to nod, but after thinking about it, he shook his head and honestly said, "No, I haven’t."
The little woman in her arms suddenly whined, "I'm hungry..."
She trailed her voice and was being petulant, which came naturally to her.
Zayn’s ears tingled for a while. He then pulled Lindsey up.
He took out his phone and said, "I'll get someone to send a meal over. What do you want to eat?"
It was already late. Lindsey looked at Zayn's face under the lights. In fact, if she looked closely, except for that mass of scars on his face, he still looked the same as before and did not seem to have changed.
"Fine." Lindsey nodded her head.
