After Lindsey finished talking, the last of her smile disappeared from her face. Stephanie was so shameless, so Lindsey did not have to give her any respect.
Lindsey picked up her purse, pushed open the door, and walked out in an instant. By the time Stephanie reacted, she was already long gone.
"Dumb*ss! Why didn't you stop her!" Stephanie was furious and smashed her purse on Henry Juhl's face.
The door to the private room was not closed tightly and some passing guests heard Stephanie's foul mouth. They shook their heads and sped up their pace. They wondered how someone could curse in such a nice place.
Lindsey’s face was emotionless, but her trembling fingers only calmed down after she walked far away.
The audacity Stephanie Lindt had to demand this of her!
When they married her into the Guggenheim family, the wedding gift from the Guggenheims was astronomical. Now, they even asked her for money so openly.
They probably forgot that she had cut off all ties with the Juhls.
Lindsey was absent-minded all afternoon at work after Henry and his wife's sudden visit.
She had clearly underestimated some people’s boldness.
A few days later, when Lindsey went to work in the morning, there was a crowd gathered at the office entrance.
Lindsey woke up a little late today and at that moment, Hemera employees were gathered at the entrance pointing at something in the middle of the crowd.
When Lindsey arrived, a sharp-eyed person immediately spotted her. The crowd pushed and shoved her, then looked at her and the middle of the circle. Their whispers grew louder.
Lindsey had a feeling that this was not good. As she got closer, the crowd automatically made a path for her.
She saw that someone had hung a large banner at the entrance of Hemera, on which had this written in a huge lettering: Lindsey Juhl is an ungrateful child who abandoned her parents!
No one knew who hung up this banner. Lindsey looked around and did not see Stephanie or Henry.
She could hear a busybody gossiping.
"Is that the same Lindsey Juhl?"
"Yeah, she’s from the Consulting Department. I heard that she has a good background and has some relations with the President of Denarius Corporation. I can’t believe she’s such an ungrateful child that abandoned her parents. No wonder there are so many rumors about her in the company."
"......"
These people were chiming one after another, each of whom had become the embodiment of justice and had joined forces with her "parents" to execute her.
She was so rashly convicted of the crime and no one gave her a chance to defend herself.
Lindsey's chest was heaving violently as the whispers around her poured into her ears. They were like tiny needles pricking her heart.
The only thing Lindsey found comfort in was that Shaun had gone away on a business trip. Otherwise, he would have confronted his parents again.
She felt a headache settling in, but nobody noticed her pale face.
Lindsey walked towards the bottom of the banner and endured the humiliation and discomfort she felt.
The voices behind her grew louder and everyone's eyes followed her.
Lindsey’s feet staggered, but she stabilized herself. The banner was hung quite high and it was difficult to reach it at her height. She stood on her tiptoes to reach it, but she could not pull it down. She was anxious and made an effort to grab at it. Suddenly, there was a burst of laughter coming from behind her. Lindsey had become the biggest laughing stock in Hemera today.
"Lindsey!"
Someone suddenly rushed up behind her.
