Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 584

"Whether you believe it or not..." When Arthur noticed that Lindsey was holding Dezi's hand and was ready to leave, he suddenly spoke. The indifference and innate arrogance made his voice seem very prominent. "I won’t fight for the child’s custody with you."

Lindsey’s back was stiff, but she quickly regained composure and walked away from Arthur.

Many things made Lindsey feel suffocated every day, but the Earth would not stop revolving just because she was upset.

Hemera’s renewable energy project was at a bottleneck. During the next few days, Lindsey and a few top executives from Hemera talked to several potential investors, but the results were not optimistic.

Since this project was basically unprofitable, the investors were not stupid. Hemera and Wendell Corporation really did not have enough cash to dump into this project, so they could not support the subsequent development.

Shaun even went out less with Yvette as he was not sure that he could steer the company out of this situation.

That day, Lindsey just came back from a client meeting and heard the staff gossiping. This was something that had not occurred in Hemera for a long time.

Lindsey retracted her gaze and headed for her office, but before she could enter, she was called by Lydia from the next office.

"Lindsey, wait a sec!" Lydia said as she walked over to Lindsey in high heels.

Lindsey stopped in her tracks and looked back at her with some confusion. "What's wrong?"

Lydia quietly pulled Lindsey aside. “Do you know that someone wants to invest in our company?"

Lindsey had been very busy with this matter recently. She froze and shook her head. "I didn't know."

She did not hear anything about this. All the major investors were quick to avoid them. Many others were just being euphemistic for Shaun’s sake. However, they could tell that euphemism was just rejection. Due to this, Lindsey was simply physically and mentally exhausted.

Lydia saw that Lindsey was unaware and pulled her to take a seat. She pointed towards the ceiling and said, “A foreigner just came over and asked to see the President upstairs. He’s so good-looking, OMG!"

She sighed and paused for a few seconds as she was probably trying to find the right words to describe him. In the end, she said, "He makes me want to divorce my husband."

Lindsey had a certain premonition in her heart, but she still played along and passed Lydia a tissue. "Here, wipe your drool."

Lydia took it and laughed, then controlled her expression. "Seriously, besides his good looks, his temperament and height are really just like what I think Prince Charming will look like! Just after Grant took him to the President’s office, there’s word that he wants to invest in this project that you’ve been handling.”

After listening to Lydia's words, Lindsey was even more certain that the man who caused the commotion in Hemera was probably Arthur.

Perhaps the last time she crouched on the ground and cried was traumatizing for Arthur, because he did not harass her and Dezi in the past few days. Lindsey was relieved, but at the same time, Arthur’s words replayed in her mind from time to time.

‘And now this!’

The person beside her was still speculating about Arthur's identity, but Lindsey's thoughts were racing.

"We had a collaboration with Denarius before. That person was the project leader then."

Lindsey just stopped listening. She was puzzled. Arthur was already a handful. Why did Denarius' people come over?

As she was talking, Lindsey arrived at Shaun's office door, Grant had gone to receive some guests, so only the secretary was there. She saw Lindsey coming and stood upright. "Ms. Juhl, the President asked you to wait for a while. He’s almost done."

Lindsey nodded. Shaun was now probably busy dealing with Arthur and Denarius' people. She just did not know why Shaun wanted to see her.

The people inside did not keep Lindsey waiting for long. Not long after, Arthur walked out of the office with a bodyguard and another man. He was dressed in a gray suit that Lindsey had never seen before. He looked a little less reckless and more serious. He also looked a little more mature than when he was in casual attire.

When he saw Lindsey, Arthur stopped dead in his tracks, but the two looked at each other and did not know what to say. Finally, Lindsey nodded at him and took the initiative to speak, "Mr. Arthur."

Arthur also nodded. His eyes swept over her face. "Lindsey."

Lindsey still found it strange that he called her by her first name when they were not even familiar with each other.

Arthur's tone made her name sound so solemn.

After the greeting, Arthur did not leave, but he also did not say anything else. Luckily, Shaun came out of his office just in time to break this slightly awkward situation.
