Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 579

Lindsey and Zayn were relatively speechless for a while.

Zayn rubbed his brow and wanted to ask Lindsey about yesterday. He wanted to know how she got the car to stop, what happened after Arthur showed up, and how she was feeling, but he could not bring himself to ask her these.

After thinking about it, Zayn changed the question. "Is Hemera facing any difficulties?"

Lindsey was lost in thought. When she heard Zayn's words, she subconsciously replied, "Yeah."

After saying that, she realized that she answered too quickly and too dryly. After all, Hemera was Denarius’ competitor, so she added, "It's just some minor problems with a project, not too serious."

Zayn watched as Lindsey tried to cover up for Hemera with cold eyes. "I heard that Arthur is planning to invest in Hemera and he looks quite sincere."

This time, Lindsey was smart about it and shook her head. "I'm not sure. After all, he won’t come directly to me for this kind of thing."

Zayn did not believe what she said. Somehow, Lindsey seemed to be very defensive towards him, which made him feel upset.

Looking at the time, Zayn had already been here for almost an hour. Lindsey looked at him and felt that if she did not say anything, Zayn might just keep sitting there.

Thus, Lindsey kicked him out without mercy. "It’s getting late, so you should go home." She was just shy of saying straight out that she did not welcome him, so he should just leave right now.

After she said that, Zayn and Dezi lifted their heads to look at her at the same time.

Zayn leisurely picked up the glass of water on the table that he had not touched earlier, then took a sip. He leaned back, looked at Lindsey, and said rather shamelessly, "I'm hungry."

"What?" Lindsey looked at him incredulously.

Zayn just looked natural and said, "I'm hungry. I haven't eaten all day today."

"There's a diner not far from here." Lindsey pretended not to understand what he was saying and enthusiastically gave him the directions. "Just turn right once you’re out of the neighborhood and keep driving straight. You'll get there in three minutes."

Zayn did not move and looked at Dezi. Dezi blinked his round eyes and said, "Daddy...wants...to eat!"

After he said that, he looked at Lindsey and said, "Mommy...Daddy...eat!" Dezi wanted to tell his mother to get something for Daddy to eat, but he was in a rush and only said these words.

Lindsey understood, but she had already suggested a restaurant where Zayn could go for dinner. What else did he want her to do?

For a while, the atmosphere became a bit tense. Lindsey and Zayn were playing a silent game of tug-of-war.

Dezi did not understand why his dad was not going to eat or why his mom was not talking either. He tilted his head and pondered for a moment, then got up and ran to the refrigerator.

He then pointed to the refrigerator and looked back at Zayn. "Daddy...eat!"

Dezi was short and had to tiptoe to open the refrigerator door.

Lindsey and Zayn hurriedly went up to help him open it as they were afraid that something would topple on him, then carefully pulled Dezi to the side.

However, Dezi pointed to the leftover pasta in the refrigerator that they had this evening and said, "Here! Daddy...eat!" He also tried to reach out to get the container.

That was because Dezi felt that his parents did not know how to take it out to eat.

Lindsey wanted to ignore Zayn's shameless request, but she did not want to upset her baby.

Lindsey did not expect Zayn to finish it.

She even thought that Zayn would spit it out after taking one bite. After all, although the Guggenheim mansion did not hire Michelin-star chefs to cook at home, Mrs. Wendy's cooking was so much better than most chefs. It was a surprise that Zayn could stomach her food.

Lindsey cleared the plate and threw it into the dishwasher, then came out to see Zayn putting on his jacket. He had stayed for nearly two hours using Dezi as an excuse, which was a bit too long for her liking.

She sent him out. Dezi stood at the door to say goodbye to Zayn. Zayn moved his fingers slightly and said to Lindsey, "I have something I want to say to you."

What did he have to say to her that he could not say all night and only wanted to tell her now when he was leaving?

Lindsey unconsciously touched the band-aid on the back of her hand. The edge of the band-aid was a little wrinkled from her constant picking and was no longer flat on her wound. She felt the uneven bump and nodded. "Okay."

She then squatted down and gestured for Dezi to go in first before she closed the door behind her and looked at Zayn.

"What do you wanna say?"

Zayn originally had a lot of things he wanted to ask her and a lot he wanted to say, but he found that he did not know where to start.

Since he was not speaking, she just asked what she wanted to know first. "What kind of injuries did Ann have? Were they serious? When will she be discharged?"

Zayn heard the name “Ann” coming from her mouth and felt uncomfortable. He knew Lindsey's thoughts and what she wanted. He would even do them for her. He did not want Lindsey to pay too much attention to Ann, nor did he want her to get too involved with that woman.

"Leg injury. It's not serious. I don't know when she'll be discharged." Zayn thought about it and answered her.

He had a whole bunch of things he wanted to say, but he could not say or ask anything.
