Seeing that Ann became unconscious, Zayn came out of the hospital and wiped his hands with a wet tissue as Soren followed behind him.
After taking a few steps, he suddenly asked Soren, "How did Arthur save Madam?"
‘Didn’t we go over this several times already?’ Soren froze for a moment and still answered, "His people were following Madam from the time she left Hemera. When they noticed that the route was wrong, they immediately informed him."
Zayn did not say anything. He felt that Arthur was not such a kind-hearted person.
Given such a great opportunity, Arthur did not take advantage of it and even saved Lindsey. Zayn still did not believe it.
Ann's actions were now completely transparent to him. This woman only had ambitious thoughts, but she was not smart enough to execute them. However, Arthur was different. This man just appeared out of nowhere and gave Zayn the feeling that everything was out of his control.
Zayn hated this feeling.
He knew that last night's incident was just Ann leading her own show. Since it was a show, he would just play along with her for a little longer.
Zayn looked at the sky and thought that Dezi should have been home by now. He also wondered how Lindsey's injury was.
As he thought of this, the person responsible for protecting Dezi called.
Soren arranged for his people to stand guard at Ann’s ward for her “safety”, but in fact, they were just watching her every move. As long as Ann stayed at the hospital, she would not be able to get rid of their people.
After Soren made the arrangements and got into the car, he found that the car seemed a bit chilly and Zayn's face was very glum.
Soren looked at the driver dubiously, but the driver was apprehensive and pretended not to know anything.
Luckily, Zayn did not intend to just sit in the car with them and wait for the sky to get dark. His voice was cold as he instructed, "Drive."
The driver hurriedly started the car. He did not know where they were heading, but he also did not dare to ask. When the driver was thinking if he should turn left or right, Zayn's voice sounded again, "Go to Opal Suites."
Soren understood at once. It turned out that Zayn was unable to resist seeing Lindsey.
Yesterday, when Lindsey was in trouble, Soren saw how anxious Zayn was, but after Lindsey got back to them, Zayn left her to him like he was not at all concerned about her. However, he was clearly more anxious than anyone else.
Somehow, Zayn still looked so glum when he was visiting Lindsey. Soren really could not understand what Zayn was thinking or feeling.
When they heard the knock on the door, Lindsey was teaching Dezi to speak. She read a sentence out loud. "I like to eat apples."
Dezi followed her. “I like...to eat...apples!” There was still a pause in between a few words, but he was much better than before.
"Baby, you’re doing so great!" Lindsey smiled and praised him.
Dezi pursed his lips in embarrassment and smiled shyly, then practiced again. "I like to...eat apples!"
This time, he improved a little more than just now.
Hearing a knock at the door, Lindsey stroked his head and said, "Mommy’s going over to open the door." She stood up and muttered softly, "Who’s at the door at this hour?"
She did not expect to see Zayn standing outside the door with one hand in his pocket through the surveillance video.
The tall man made Lindsey freeze for a moment. Her brows furrowed, but she did not pretend not to hear his knock and opened a small crack in the door. She only revealed her face as she looked at Zayn and asked, "Why are you here? What's the matter?"
Dezi nodded his head.
Lindsey watched the interaction between the two of them with mixed feelings in her heart.
Zayn was so cold in front of others, but he was always patient and gentle with Dezi. He seemed like two completely different people.
After teaching Dezi for a while, Dezi practiced by himself on the side. Zayn then looked at Lindsey and asked after a moment, “How’s your wound?”
Lindsey raised her arm and gestured to him, "You mean this?"
Zayn nodded, then added, "And the one on your face."
Lindsey subconsciously lifted her hand to touch her cheek, where there was a more obvious wound.
"It's fine." She did not care much. "It's all taken care of. No big deal."
However, the man across the table seemed uneasy and wrinkled his eyebrows as he asked, "Did you see a doctor? Will it leave a scar?"
Zayn did not even care if Ann’s injury would leave a scar no matter how big or small, but with Lindsey, he was worried that a small scratch would leave a mark on her flawless skin.
Lindsey just thought that he was being a little overbearing and waved her hand. "Nah, it's just a shallow wound. It won't leave a scar."
Even if there was a scar, it did not matter because Lindsey did not care.
Zayn wanted to disagree with her, but in the end, he just kept quiet.
