Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 314

Liam's face changed slightly when he saw the contents on the tablet.

"Before you take me away, I have the right to contact my lawyer."

In the end, Liam only had time to call his lawyer before he was invited to the State Criminal Investigation Office for a chat.

This was something that no one had expected.

There was no way to hide this matter because someone was manipulating public opinion in Germany. The next day, every relevant media reported this matter.

The shares of Wilford Corporation plummeted overnight.

Allie did not expect that Zayn would come out with such a killer move when he had been silent for so long. She got a lawyer to consult on the charges against Liam. If Liam was found guilty of these charges, he would have to spend the rest of his life in prison. Most of Wilford Corporation’s assets would also be confiscated.

This matter was not trivial. Allie thought that everything was under control, but she now knew that she was no match for Zayn Guggenheim.

With the Wilfords’ financial resources, it was easy to bail Liam out, but their bail applications were rejected repeatedly.

Smith's face was grave as he looked at Allie. "It’s clear that someone in the higher ranks is exerting pressure, so we can't mess ourselves up now."

All along, Liam Wilford was the backbone of Wilford Corporation. Although he was reckless, the growth of the company during his years in power was also evident to everyone.

Now that Liam was in trouble and might face jail time, their parents did not even show one bit of concern. Allie was then pushed to be the decision-maker for the company's matters.

Having been sheltered for so many years, it would be a lie to say that Allie was not panicking, but she still felt an inexplicable pleasure at the bottom of her heart.

"Young Lady, someone must be behind the Young Master’s arrest. We just need to find out who’s the mastermind so that we could bail the Young Master out. The company needs you to step in and preside over some matters."

Liam had been intentionally ceding power to Allie over the years regarding the company’s affairs. Although she was still young, she was Liam's most trusted successor.

Allie did not know how she should face this matter for a moment.

Her resentment and hatred for Liam made it impossible for her to treat him as the brother he once was to her, but she also did not want Liam to get into trouble so soon.

She would prefer to get back at everyone who had failed her personally.

"I know." Allie nodded to Smith. "Make some arrangements. I'll go to the office this afternoon. Try to control the public opinion and divert everyone's attention first."

The speed with which Allie regained composure was beyond Smith's expectation. He thought Allie would cry and beg the senior board members, but he did not expect her to calm herself down so quickly.

She was truly worthy of being Liam's sister.

Everyone in the manor hid this news from Sophie and no one dared to tell her. Before Liam went in to be investigated, the only thing he instructed was that no matter what, Sophie could never find out about this.

Thus, Sophie was completely clueless. She was still thinking about the encounter with Lindsey yesterday.

The people around her said that Lindsey was mentally ill, but Sophie saw Lindsey's eyes and saw clarity in them that looked like she was of sound mind.

Sophie had nothing to do, so she often visited Mrs. Jacobson and frequented the building behind her.

"Where’s Ms. Juhl?" Sophie clutched the hot cup of tea and gently sipped it as she asked what was on her mind.

Mrs. Jacobson smiled and said, "She's upstairs."

"No way!"

Sophie was stunned and looked up at the two of them. "What's the matter?"

Mrs. Jacobson actually did not mind as she thought that Lindsey would not be able to do much with such a big belly. However, the other party clearly requested for Lindsey not to go out for fear that she would take the opportunity to escape.

Athena, on the other hand, was afraid that Lindsey would hurt Sophie.

Sophie thought that both of them were just worried about Lindsey's mental illness. She glanced at Lindsey and sighed in her heart. Sophie thought that Lindsey was so good-looking and it was a pity she had a mental illness.

"It's okay, there are so many people outside. We'll just walk around the courtyard."

After saying that, Sophie smiled reassuringly at the two of them and gently took Lindsey's hand. "Let's go. The air outside smells of roses. You’ll surely like it."

Lindsey aptly revealed a yearning smile and gently held Sophie's hand.

Sophie did not look worried at all about Lindsey's so-called “mental illness”. She then pulled Lindsey to a large rose bush by the roadside. "Look what I found yesterday. There’s only one pink rose. It’s probably mutated, but it looks extra special."

She pointed to the flower and happily shared it with Lindsey.

The pink rose itself was not all that special. It even appeared to be duller because it was wilting, but it did look unique and conspicuous in a large sea of red roses.

"Yeah, it's a flower with character." Lindsey echoed. She looked and sounded perfectly normal.

Sophie smiled happily, then reached out and gently poked Lindsey's belly.
