Before Lindsey could speak, a man's slightly warm voice came from the other end of the call, "How’s Madam today? What did she eat in the morning? Did she go for a walk?"
Zayn asked while he pulled his tie and unbuttoned his shirt.
This time, he did not hear a response. Zayn took the phone away from his ear and looked at the phone. The call was still connected. He then frowned in dissatisfaction.
"Who is this? Why aren’t you speaking?" Zayn’s voice turned cold.
"Zayn..." Lindsey called out in a small voice. When she heard Zayn's voice after a few days, she had the urge to cry.
On the other side, Zayn was also not calm. When he heard Lindsey’s soft voice, he just wanted to pull her into his arms and hold her tightly. His fingers froze for a moment before he gave a soft “mm”.
“I ate well and did some exercise.” Lindsey resisted the urge to cry and asked softly, "Zayn, when are you coming back?"
Zayn wanted to say that he would be back tomorrow, but he had a last-minute partner's reception to attend the day after tomorrow and he still had some things to prepare, so after thinking about it, he said, "I'll be home in two nights."
After hanging up, Lindsey sat frozen for a while. Mrs. Wendy had already brought all the dishes to the table and asked her to hurry over for lunch.
"You guys come over and eat with me." Lindsey stood up and said to Sieben and Soren as she walked towards the dining room.
Although Soren was there to protect her, he had a higher status in the mansion and had a close relationship with Zayn. As for Sieben, Lindsey treated her as a guest.
She would also feel better with more people eating with her. However, these two people were not ready to accept her invitation.
Soren said that it was "inappropriate" and slipped away. While Sieben, who had just eaten and was not hungry, also followed Soren and left.
Lindsey sighed and looked at the table full of food. The little one in her womb was much more anxious than her, urging Lindsey to hurry up and eat.
Soren came out of the mansion. The footsteps behind him were as light as a cat's, but they were not deliberate. When he reached the corner, Soren stopped abruptly and reached behind him.
He intended to clasp Sieben's arm, but somehow, perhaps the angle was not right, he held onto her small hand.
It was less than two-thirds of Soren's hand. He firmly grasped that small palm.
"Why are you so rough?!" The soft voice was tainted with discontent. Soren let go, but that touch remained in his palm for a long time.
"Why are you following me?" He wanted to go back and rest, but Sieben followed him like a shadow.
Sieben looked straight at him. "I've told you many times. I want to follow you!"
She was sometimes frighteningly smart, but sometimes, she was terrifyingly reckless.
At this time, that pair of eyes had a look of total trust.
Soren froze for a moment before he scrutinized her. "Tell me what’s your motive, then I'll let you follow me."
Seeing him like this, Sieben let out a long sigh and said, "Ugh, I really won't hurt anyone. If I wanted to do anything, I would’ve done it already."
Lindsey's safety was what he was most anxious about. Thus, he thought of hiding her somewhere until he dealt with Liam Wilford. By then, their child would almost be born.
Zayn was expressionless, but when Quentin heard that, he was so shocked that his jaw dropped. "You want to send the Young Madam to an island overseas? Isn’t this overdoing it a little?"
Zayn swept him a glance. His voice was light. "I can't afford anything happening to her."
Quentin shut his mouth and obliged, making arrangements immediately.
Zayn was thoughtful. He was overseas, but his heart was occupied with Lindsey.
After Lindsey ate, she went for a walk in the garden. Soren and Sieben were not around, so the maids accompanied her. Shortly after, an angry roar from Soren suddenly came from not far ahead. "Put it down!"
The voice came from Soren's small loft.
Lindsey subconsciously stopped in her tracks. Thinking that it was probably Sieben playing tricks on Soren again, Lindsey inexplicably wanted to laugh a little, but she did not approach.
Her daily routine was very regular. The maid sent her upstairs and helped her light a scented candle while she played some music.
Lindsey did not feel sleepy after lying down for a while. She kept thinking about Zayn’s call at noon, which made her heart surge with emotions.
If she told Zayn, she might have to bear his condemnation and lack of understanding. If she did not tell him, Lindsey knew it would be impossible to hide it from him, so she might as well just tell him. It would also give their relationship a chance of survival.
At the moment, she was really beginning to covet living in this world. She yearned for Zayn and the child in her womb.
