"Nevermind." Shaun avoided her gaze. Lindsey looked at him the same way as before, which only made him feel more guilty inside.
His cooperation with Allie Wilford was like a thorn in his heart, making Shaun very uncomfortable. Besides, his parents nearly hurt Lindsey’s child, so Shaun did not even dare to tell Lindsey the truth.
Shaun was not sure if he would lose the right to sit face to face with her after he said it.
Lindsey looked at Shaun, who had unconcealed bitterness and exhaustion in his eyes. He looked very haggard. "Brother, are you really okay? Your complexion looks terrible."
Shaun waved his hand. "I'm a little tired lately."
Thinking of Allie, Shaun looked at Lindsey and could not help but remind her. "Have you seen Allie Wilford recently? She..."
A sweet female voice suddenly came from behind him, interrupting Shaun's words. "Talking about me?"
Lindsey saw Allie first and was surprised. "Allie, why are you here?"
Allie's makeup was exquisite and she looked radiant. She looked like she was not at all affected by the mess at Wilford Corporation. However, the concealer under her eyes was clearly heavier today.
She pretended to be friendly and went up next to Lindsey, but she looked at Shaun. "I heard that a new jeweler opened here, so I came to take a look. I wanted to ask you out, but you weren’t home when I called. I can’t believe I ran into you here!"
Lindsey’s phone was basically just for show. She did not even bring it with her when she went out, so Allie must have called the mansion.
"Mr. Juhl, long time no see. Why do you look so terrible since the last time I saw you?" Allie looked at Shaun with a modest smile.
Shaun saw her friendliness with Lindsey and clenched his fists under the table. He also suppressed his expression.
The phone in his pocket suddenly chimed. In a few seconds, Shaun took out his phone as if he had a premonition and looked at it. It was a message from Allie Wilford.
"I have recorded every chat we had. Do you want Lindsey to know those nasty thoughts you have about her? If you do, then just say it. I’ll cooperate with you."
Seeing Shaun’s face turning glum, Lindsey asked worriedly, "Brother, are you really okay?"
It was only after a long time that Shaun raised his head. He looked at the curved corners of Lindsey's eyes and was a little out of it. "I'm fine."
He was already lacking courage. He had loved her for so many years and could accept her distancing herself from him, but he could not stay calm if she looked at him with disgust.
Allie always managed to hit his soft spot.
The smile on Allie's face was like the biggest mockery to him. Shaun abruptly stood up and looked at Lindsey. "I still have some things to do, so I'll leave first. Take good care of yourself."
When he said that, Shaun glanced at Allie, then reminded Lindsey. "You’re pregnant, so don't simply eat anything and don't run around."
After saying that, Shaun strode towards Soren. He looked a little strange and whispered something in Soren’s ear before leaving.
Soren then came over and said, "Madam, we should go back."
Seeing Lindsey's suspicious eyes, Soren added, "The President just called. He was worried about you."
Lindsey was also one of the witnesses. After seeing this scene, she felt that Sieben’s body was incredibly soft and nimble.
"Why did you come over?" Lindsey looked at Sieben, who lightly clapped her hands and rolled her eyes.
"You’re all here and I was bored, so I came out." Sieben smiled playfully and returned to her girlish appearance.
She and Lindsey were both stunningly good-looking. Adding to the show earlier, many passersby looked at the two of them.
Sieben seemed unaccustomed to being stared at by so many people and subconsciously stood behind Lindsey and Soren, then covered her face with her black hoodie.
She did not like the crowded environment. Just then, the driver drove over and Lindsey got into the car with the two people behind her.
When Lindsey returned to the Guggenheim mansion, the phone in the living room rang.
The maid was about to answer it, but Mrs. Wendy stopped her and deliberately said loudly, "Go to the kitchen and get a glass of water for Young Madam."
The person who usually called at this time was Zayn. Even though he was abroad, he called back several times a day to ask about Lindsey's situation.
Seeing this, the other two maids also went off to find something to do.
Lindsey did not notice their fishy behavior and stared at the ringing phone. Seeing that no one answered, she went forward and picked it up herself.
