Although Callum had invited Shaun to the party, Shaun felt that Callum actually did not want him to come.
Yvette lowered her head and a look of understanding appeared on her face as she said, "Did you come to see Lindsey? Did you hide here because you're afraid she'll be put in a difficult position?"
Her eyes were clear and flawless, but she was no longer looking at Shaun with adoration and fascination like before. Shaun was not used to this and the words, "I came to say goodbye to you", which was already at the tip of his tongue, suddenly turned into an "mm".
In fact, Shaun had arrived late because of a delay. He did not expect to run into Lindsey and Zayn. Since the last time his parents hurt Lindsey, Shaun subconsciously avoided them and was actually a little unsure how to face Lindsey.
"Oh," Yvette replied dryly. She could barely keep up the smile on her face and said, "Then since you're here, let's go in."
She wore an off-shoulder pink tulle dress, which made her look even more petite and cute. She lifted her small arm and pointed inside.
Shaun looked at her for a moment and suddenly asked, "Do you really want to go abroad?"
Yvette was a little uncomfortable by his gaze. She bit the tender flesh on the inside of her mouth and nodded.
"That’s good." Shaun nodded and continued, "You’re still young, so you should go out and experience more things so you know what you really like and what kind of person is suitable for you."
He actually wanted to say that Yvette was still young and it was good for her to fool around for a few more years. However, facing that little pinkish face, his words always seemed to be out of his control.
Yvette widened her eyes and stared at Shaun unblinkingly. The tight feeling at the bottom of her heart made her a little incoherent. "So, you mean that I only like you because I'm young and don't know anything?"
Her lips trembled and looked like she was about to burst into tears the next second.
Looking at Yvette like this, Shaun's heart suddenly surged with a strange feeling. He could not admit this, but he had always thought so before.
Ignoring the discomfort, Shaun took a step forward, but Yvette suddenly took a big step backward. "Don't come over!"
Her voice was a bit loud because she was emotional. Shaun stopped abruptly and contemplated if he should give her the tissue in his hand.
"Lindsey left. You're right, my brother doesn’t want to see you, so you'd better leave." Yvette chased him away and suddenly turned around.
Shaun helplessly stroked his brow and finally put the pack of tissue back in his pocket. He was at a loss and stood in place for a moment. In the end, he said softly, "Don't cry. I'll leave."
The man's gentle voice fell and the sound of his footsteps slowly faded away. The tears that Yvette tried so hard to hold back suddenly gushed out.
"Didn't you say you don't like him anymore?" A slightly playful male voice came from not far ahead.
Yvette suddenly could not hold back her suppressed sobs. She squatted down and bawled, like an aggrieved little girl.
Callum grunted and cursed in a low voice, "Shaun Juhl...this *sshole!" He hurriedly walked up to the girl who was bawling her eyes out and pulled her up into his arms.
He was nine years older than Yvette, so Callum treated Yvette like a daughter and a sister. This was the first time he saw Yvette cry like this for a guy.
"You’ve never cried for me." Callum thought with slight discontent.
Lindsey’s appetite grew over the past few days and she had been eating more than Zayn. After she finished her second plate of pasta and looked like she was going for a third, Zayn could not resist and reminded her. “I think you’ve had enough.”
She had just lifted her fork. When she heard that, she paused mid-air and obediently put her fork back down. “Fine...”
Even though she said this, Lindsey still kept eyeing the food on the table.
Zayn suddenly burst out laughing and carried her up. “Come, let’s go for a walk. If you eat too much, the baby will get too big and you’ll be tormented when you’re in labor.”
The word, "baby", sounded warm and soft when it came out of Zayn's mouth.
Lindsey had a tiny baby bump, but it was not obvious. She was certainly heavier. When Zayn carried her, she subconsciously put her arms around his neck.
"Put me down. I'm so heavy now." Lindsey was a little embarrassed.
Zayn kissed Lindsey on the tip of her nose. "It's alright. I can still support you."
He carried her outside and put her down. He then said, "You’re still too thin. If the child grows bigger later and you’re still so thin, your body might not be able to withstand it."
As he said this, he thought of something and laughed. Lindsey gave him a weird look and laughed along as she asked, “What’s so funny?”
Zayn looked at her closely with delight in his eyes. “I suddenly thought of how you’d look if you were still this tiny and the baby grew bigger. Somehow, I find it quite amusing.”
