Zayn was stunned when he heard Yvette’s words. He immediately turned around to look at her. "What did you say?"
His voice was very low and even carried a slight warmth from earlier that had not yet fully dispersed. However, Yvette subconsciously took a step back.
She could not take back what she said, so she lowered her head and said stiffly, "Lindsey doesn’t want this child because you’re not a good person!"
"What nonsense is this little lady talking about..." Quentin quickly interjected before Zayn could and reached out to push Yvette away as he was afraid that Zayn would accidentally hurt her in a fit of rage.
Quentin knew that the girl in front of him was the little princess of the Wendell family. She was really too well protected.
Who knew what Zayn would do when he got mad? If anything were to happen to her, then Zayn would make an enemy out of another business mogul.
Zayn might not care, but his subordinates must be able to think for their boss.
Yvette still did not leave. In a split second, a voice so eerie it made their scalp tingle sounded from behind, "Repeat what you just said again."
She gulped, not knowing why she was a little afraid to say it. Yvette felt that she might have gotten into big trouble.
At this moment, the door of the examination room not far away suddenly opened from the inside, breaking the perilous atmosphere outside. "Who’s the patient's guardian? Come and sign this please."
Zayn no longer cared about Yvette probably because he realized that what happened in the room was more important than whatever was out there. He strode over to the door within a few steps and said to the nurse, "I’m her husband."
"Alright then, sign here."
After the nurse put the paper and pen into Zayn's hand, he did not even look at it and suddenly threw the paper and pen far away. "Get lost!"
The nurse did not know why the man suddenly snapped, but she saw the man in front of her reach out to push the half-closed door open again. This time, no one could stop him. He lifted the white curtain and yelled, "Everyone out!"
After he said that, his gaze met a pair of half-opened eyes.
"Zayn?" Lindsey was still not fully awake. Her face was so pale that she almost blended in with the white sheets beneath her.
The female doctor who helped Lindsey with the examination wanted to kick him out, but when she saw Zayn's tightly pursed lips, she suddenly did not dare to speak.
"I must be dreaming..." Lindsey muttered as she tilted her head and closed her eyes again.
Her hand subconsciously rested on her belly in a protective gesture. Zayn's gaze landed on Lindsey's still flat stomach and suddenly went over. He ignored everyone in the room and hugged her.
Zayn wanted Lindsey to be a part of him, but he dared not use any force as he was afraid he might hurt her. He just hugged her so carefully it looked almost like a fake hug.
Lindsey was completely awake because of his actions.
The breath on her ears was searingly hot as if it was going to burn her.
The strange thing was that Lindsey was not as panicked or scared as she thought she would be when she saw Zayn.
"Zayn..." Lindsey called out in a small voice. For some reason, her heart settled down.
