Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 147

Lindsey threw Jenny to the side, who seemed to have fainted as she fell limp to the ground, unmoving.

"Is your heart broken?" Lindsey asked in a soft voice, but this time, it was directed towards Zayn.

Zayn's hand lifted again, but it landed on Lindsey's head.

"Yes." He also replied softly.

Lindsey slapped his hand away and suddenly curled her lips into a smile. "In that case, that's great."

She forcefully lifted Jenny Lenig, who was lying on the ground, so that her face was presented in front of Zayn. "Zayn Guggenheim! I want you to watch your beloved die right in front of you!"

Zayn's arrival stimulated the hidden ruthlessness in Lindsey’s heart. She threw Jenny back down and Jenny's head smashed on the tiles.

"I've already seen it." Zayn suddenly raised his head. His voice was trembling. He did not even look at Jenny lying on the floor and just said, "The person I love most had already died once in front of me long ago."

Lindsey froze and thought of saying something, but Jenny suddenly woke up.

She spat out a big mouthful of water, then she wedged herself between Lindsey and Zayn. She did not know where she got the strength from, but all of a sudden, she clung to Zayn's leg, hugged him, and cried.

"Zayn! She wants to kill me! Save me! Save me..."

Lindsey's eyes instantly turned cold again, and all the softness that surfaced earlier was abruptly concealed.

However, the scene where she thought Zayn would hug Jenny back did not happen.

The man in front of her looked impatient as he pulled Jenny's hand away and forcefully flung it aside. His thin lips parted and spat out a cruel sentence. "Since that's the case, then you can go to hell."

Jenny froze in place. Even Lindsey did not expect Zayn to say such words.

At that moment, Zayn added, "Why else do you think you're still alive and kept here for so long?"

His voice did not even have much emotion, but this side of Zayn shattered the last bit of illusion in Jenny's heart.

Why did he still keep her? Why did he not deal with her when he found out the truth? Instead, he only locked her up in such a dark place and no one could take her away without his command.

The reason for this was so that if by some miracle, Lindsey, who was presumed dead by everyone, ever returned, she could seek revenge on Jenny.

Lindsey really did come back.

"No, Zayn, you love me! You love me the most!" Jenny cried and shouted. She was frantic at this moment. "Have you forgotten our promise, Zayn?"

"Our promise?"

Jenny grabbed him even tighter. "Yes, have you forgotten? You said you’d marry me! We’re the ones who should be together in the first place."

She repeatedly emphasized this because she only had this poor bit of leverage left.

If this was the past, Zayn probably would have been slightly moved. Unfortunately at this moment, Zayn was only disgusted by her.

"But I don't remember that I had such a deal with you." Zayn squatted in front of Jenny and pinched her chin with his fingers. His deep eyes were full of mockery.

Jenny hurriedly said, "Yes, you did! Zayn, you said it yourself back in the orphanage. You said you’d marry me when we’re all grown up. Have you forgotten?"

"Yes, I forgot." Zayn stood up and shook off Jenny's hand.

He turned around and pulled Lindsey into his arms, ignoring the shocked look on her face. He hugged her so tightly that her bones felt like they would be crushed. "Lindsey, I’m sorry. All these years, I was the one who forgot."

‘That’s why after going in circles, I was the one who’s wronged you all this while.’
