Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 124

This sentence was a clear reminder to Zayn that he and Lindsey were nothing more than business partners at the moment.

Zayn tried to restrain the urge to haul Lindsey over his shoulders and lock her up at home. Just as he was about to say something, the bodyguard responsible for protecting Lindsey and Allie Wilford came to Lindsey and said with a hint of tension in his voice, "Ms. Juhl, the Young Lady is missing."

"What?" Lindsey's heart instantly constricted. Allie was unfamiliar with Atlantic City, so she would not run around by herself. Moreover, this club was so rowdy, so Lindsey could only pray that nothing happened to Allie.

"The Young Lady was dancing over there, but because of the commotion here, we got distracted for a moment and she disappeared in the blink of an eye."

"Hurry up and get people to look for her! Transfer everyone over now! She mustn’t have gone far in such a short time, so search around here first." Lindsey was quick to react. Cold sweat accumulated on her forehead and she did not even bother about Zayn who was standing on the side.

Zayn had been following Lindsey these past few days and could tell that she had a good relationship with Allie Wilford, who was also the Young Lady of Wilford Corporation. Although Zayn still did not know how Lindsey came to be involved with the Wilfords, if something happened to Allie while she was out with Lindsey, Zayn subconsciously worried about the repercussions for Lindsey.

He made a phone call to his men, then pulled Lindsey's wrist and whispered, "There’s a residential area three hundred meters from here, right at the end of the alley behind this club."

"Why should I believe you?" Lindsey refused to believe Zayn.

Zayn looked at her frankly as he asked, "Why would I lie to you?"

"Who knows? Mr. Guggenheim, you might’ve felt too bored, so you came here to make fun of me. After all, you like to stomp all over people’s hearts."

"Is that what you think?" An anguished look surfaced on his face, but it was too faint. In such an environment, Lindsey could not see it clearly.

She did not want to dwell on this. At this time, the bodyguards also happened to report some news. It was the exact same as the location Zayn told her earlier.

Lindsey was stunned and looked back at Zayn, but in the next second, she fiercely shook off his hand.

Zayn looked at Lindsey’s back and spoke softly, "I won't lie to you."

Lindsey paused in her footsteps. "Unfortunately, I won't ever believe you again."

After saying that, she left with a few bodyguards and ran straight to the back alley of the club.

Zayn smiled bitterly and still could not rest assured, so he made a gesture to his undercover bodyguards and followed behind her without a delay.

The dark alley behind the bar was a stark contrast to the dazzling lights in the club. The ground was pockmarked with smelly and muddy puddles. Lindsey was still wearing high heels and she could not see the road clearly, so she was walking crookedly and almost fell several times. Luckily, the bodyguard next to her held her so that she would not fall to the ground.

"You guys go first. Saving the Young Lady is our priority." Lindsey also knew that she was a burden and asked them go ahead to look for Allie while she followed from behind. Allie could be in more danger if they dawdled even a minute longer.

Zayn was following closely behind. When he saw Lindsey holding the bodyguard’s arm, he became even more frustrated.

The alley was not very long. Soon, they reached the end of the road and saw the row of houses in front.

This area looked abandoned because there were no street lights around. There was only one house that was lit up with white lights.

A few bodyguards who had arrived first stood in front of the dilapidated house.

Lindsey did not have a good feeling about this. She walked closer and peered into the house to observe the situation.
