Lindsey's heart was beating fast. There were water stains on her pillow and she was not sure if it was from her sweat or tears. Lindsey raised her hand to touch her face and found that it was wet as well.
She tried to calm her breathing, then took her phone from the bedside table and dialed a number.
The call was answered quickly.
"Hello, Ms. Juhl." A gentle male voice came through over the other side, speaking with an undulating tone that unconsciously relaxed her.
"It's me. I just had another dream. It was the same as before, only this time there were even memories of my childhood." Lindsey recounted her dream as calmly as she could.
Lindsey had dreamt of the second half of this dream countless times. Ever since she regained consciousness from the accident, she would almost always see this when she closed her eyes, which gave her sleep anxiety.
Later, Ginny found her a psychiatrist, which was Niko Yale over the phone. After several months of therapy, Lindsey's sleep quality finally improved.
Niko was very professional and listened patiently as Lindsey narrated her dream, then soothed her. Only after Lindsey was completely relaxed did he begin to analyze it in a soft voice.
"Perhaps your memories were stimulated when you saw him today. Having new content in your dreams isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Ms. Juhl, you’ll have to come out of this eventually, so new content represents new possibilities and hope...if it gets unbearable, you can take the medication I prescribed, but I want you to try overcoming this on your own."
After all, one could only overcome their psychological trauma by facing it.
Lindsey hung up and pulled open her bedside drawer. She looked at the white bottle in the empty drawer and was torn for a moment. In the end, she closed the drawer.
She thought that Zayn would make a move against her, but after so many days, Zayn did nothing. It was as if what happened that day was all in her mind.
Lindsey went to work every day as usual and her life was amazingly calm and peaceful.
Allie Wilford worked tirelessly at the office as soon as she returned to the country, so that day after work, she pestered Lindsey to accompany her to a nightclub.
Even though Allie looked like a goody-two-shoes, she was like most spoilt rich kids overseas who liked to party and fool around.
Allie took Lindsey's hand and pouted. "I really haven't been for such a long time! Lindsey, please just come with me, okay?"
If Allie took Lindsey with her, then her big brother would not nag her when he found out.
"Allie, I'm a little tired, so I won't go." Lindsey did not like bars, but Allie's pestering skills were not ordinary. In the end, Lindsey still gave in after Allie’s constant pleas. Moreover, Lindsey was worried that it would be unsafe for a girl like Allie to go to that kind of place alone, so Lindsey had no choice but to follow.
Some distance away, the car hidden in the dark did not move until Lindsey's car was about to disappear from sight. The person in the car slowly spat out two words, "Follow them."
All clubs always had loud music and dazzling lights. Allie was extremely excited. In an instant, her young and beautiful body blended into the dancing crowd. Lindsey found a corner with fewer people and instructed the undercover bodyguard to keep an eye on Allie. She then laid back on the curved sofa and closed her eyes.
Zayn stayed hidden in a corner not far away from Lindsey and looked at the woman who closed her eyes with a covetous gaze.
She seemed to be a little thinner than before. The makeup on her face was just as exquisite, but with her eyes closed, she looked inexplicably fragile.
At this time, somebody blocked Zayn's view, causing the warmth in his eyes to disappear in an instant.
"Excuse me, Miss. Are you alone?"
