Zayn’s eyes were glimmering and Lindsey nearly drowned in the depths of those eyes.
The word "wife" hit her in the heart. She felt some pain, frustration, but also indescribable joy.
From the day they got married, Lindsey had never heard Zayn say this word in such earnest.
The word "wife" seemed to have a new meaning in their marriage. Compared to an ordinary couple who supported each other, this word seemed to carry a trace of bitterness and some restoration of justice.
"Wifey..." Zayn excitedly said this as if he was amused by this newfound word.
Lindsey felt so embarrassed and tried to push him away, but she did not have the strength to do so.
It seemed that their rough patch was finally over and they could finally start anew.
Lindsey was awakened by the light from the gap in the curtains. When she turned her head, she met the man's gaze.
"Good morning, wifey." Zayn propped up his head with one hand and there was a touch of warmth in his dark eyes as they reflected the sunrise.
It looked like he had been awake for a while.
Lindsey blushed when she heard this and quickly expelled the R-rated thoughts she had in her mind. She was too embarrassed to look at Zayn and said, “I...I’ll go wash up.”
When she sat up, she realized that there was nothing on her, so she quickly pulled the sheets to cover herself up and reached for her nightgown that was thrown under the bed.
Their clothes laid entwined on the floor.
The nightgown was thrown a little too far away and she tried to stretch her arms, but still could not reach it.
Suddenly, she felt a strong firm chest on her back as the man’s scent engulfed her. Her body tensed up at an instant. In the next second, a long and strong arm reached past her eyes and easily grabbed her thin nightgown.
Lindsey felt her body burning up as she bit her lip and looked at the man. She quickly took her nightgown from his hand and got dressed under the covers before running into the bathroom.
Seeing the petite woman fleeing to the bathroom, Zayn rubbed his fingertips and suddenly let out a low laugh.
Whilst Lindsey took her time in the shower, Zayn had already gotten dressed and went downstairs.
The old man got up early and thought that Zayn did not come home last night. He was holding his cane, ready to curse Zayn, but his words were stuck in his throat when he saw his grandson coming down the stairs.
As if he did not see the old man's shocked face, Zayn said in a good mood, "Good morning, Grandpa."
Zayn's current state was like a light spring breeze, compared to the blizzard he was in before he left home yesterday.
When Lindsey sat at the table, the old man glanced at her then at Zayn and suddenly chortled.
Lindsey blushed and did not even look at Zayn. She just lowered her head to eat her breakfast.
The old man was not done teasing them. He cleared his throat and said, "Zayn, do you still remember Mr. Wilburn's son?"
"Yes."
"That kid is two years younger than you and his son is almost a toddler now!" After the old man said that, he looked at Lindsey and said, "You two should get a child soon so you can have a few more while you’re still young! Then, it’ll be more lively at home."
Zayn raised his eyebrow slightly. The old man was not hinting at them but expressing his opinion.
Lindsey could not listen to any more of this. She swallowed the plate of food in three or two bites and hurriedly said, "Grandpa, I'm going to work."
"Wait." Zayn suddenly spoke, "I'll send you today."
