When the livestream camera cut to their team, it was like the whole vibe in the room changed. While the other groups looked stressed out and worried, these girls were practically glowing with confidence.
Their smiles just wouldn’t quit—so genuine and bright it felt contagious, like they could chase away any bad mood.
Right as the camera moved on, Jane’s phone lit up. Tyler was calling.
All that cool confidence in her eyes instantly turned to excitement. She pressed the phone to her ear. “Wait—are you serious?”
“Yeah. Go ahead and put out the statement. I’ll handle the rest,” Tyler replied.
Jane hung up, and for the first time in ages, a real smile tugged at her lips.
She headed straight to Jackson, who was sitting with Amy tucked way too close beside him. Anyone looking would’ve thought they were a couple or something.
But Amy knew better—Jackson barely tolerated her.
She only stayed by his side to make her family happy, to keep up the illusion. It helped Esther believe she still had a shot with Jackson, too. As long as Esther thought Amy was useful, Amy could keep surviving.
Jane stopped in front of them, giving Amy a cold once-over. “Excuse me. Abby, you don’t mind moving, do you? I need to talk business with Mr. Woods, so could you find another seat?”
Jane had never bothered to play nice with Amy. She didn’t even try to hide her icy tone.
Amy didn’t want to budge, but she slid out of the way anyway.
She’d just gotten some bad news: The real Amy was gone from the locked room—and all the guards were dead.
Even the police were clueless. If the cops couldn’t figure it out, who else could’ve done it?
