“What are you trying to say?”
“As your business partner, it’s only natural for me to check out your factory. If you can’t agree to that, then we won’t sign the deal. International Glam doesn’t exactly need you. In fact, as long as I’m in the States, no one here will touch a deal with anyone from your country.”
“Ms. Fiona, is that a threat?”
“You could call it that.”
The reps from Country M were furious and flustered—they never expected Fiona to play hardball like this. The contract had been within reach, and now she was about to walk away.
“Ms. Fiona, this isn’t how business is done. We’re all professionals here. You’re ignoring all the rules.”
“Just remember, on this land, American rules are the only rules that count.”
Fiona spun on her heel and walked off, tuning out their frantic yelling behind her.
It didn’t matter how loud they got. Their outrage was met with silence.
No one could change Fiona’s mind—not these people, not anyone.
As soon as Fiona left, the Country M group scrambled to hold a quick meeting. This deal was everything to them, and if it fell through, they’d pay dearly back home.
“I can’t believe Fiona kicked out our inside man and still has the nerve to act like this! She’s out of control!”
“Right? She’s already pushed us so far, and now she’s just rubbing it in our faces. She doesn’t respect us at all.”
One of the older women stepped forward, her expression icy. “You really think she could run the Stonnell family if she wasn’t this ruthless? If this deal fails, we’re all done for.”
“Okay. We’ll go together.”
Three days later, their group showed up at the airport. Even when the Country M people saw Jackson by Fiona’s side, none of them dared complain. They all knew—if Fiona backed out now, they’d lose everything.
The flight was long—five, maybe six hours—before they finally landed in Country M. As soon as they stepped off the plane, a team was waiting to whisk Jackson, Fiona, and the others straight to the hotel.
Security at the hotel was tight. Every suite had someone standing guard outside, twenty-four seven.
Fiona couldn’t help but notice something felt off. She glanced at the staff’s perfect makeup and polite smiles, and her gut told her things weren’t quite right.
Once she and Jackson were alone in their room, they both immediately spotted the security cameras placed everywhere. They shared a quick look—Jackson threw himself onto the couch, Fiona flopped onto the bed, both acting like nothing was out of the ordinary.
