Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 1907

Mrs. Kidd froze for a second, but her smile returned just as quickly. She took the fresh waffle fries from Jane, grinning from ear to ear.

“Well, in that case, why don’t you go upstairs and get yourself cleaned up? Look at you, all messy. With that flour on your face, anyone would think you’d just escaped a disaster.”

Jane pouted and clung to her grandmother’s arm. “Grandma, you can’t say that! I got like this making snacks for Fiona. Besides, Fiona would never think I look bad.”

Honestly, Mrs. Kidd wasn’t wrong. Jane smelled like grease from head to toe. She definitely needed a change of clothes.

Just as she stood up, Jane remembered—her stepmom and Carson were still standing outside, bawling like the world was ending.

The crying outside only got louder, and Jane finally snapped. She yelled toward the door, “What are you crying about? If you want to die, go do it somewhere else! Don’t bring your drama in here first thing in the morning. Can you stop already?”

Mrs. Kidd took Jane’s hand, her tone turning serious. “Jane, you’re the Kidd family’s pride. Our future depends on you. Once your father’s verdict comes down, send those two to the family chapel. As the Kidd family’s heir, don’t get involved with them. Their status isn’t even worth your time, let alone your anger.”

Still, Jane couldn’t shake her irritation.

Fiona would be arriving any minute, and if she saw those two, it would definitely ruin the mood.

Fuming, Jane dropped onto the couch beside her grandmother, her face clouded over.

“Grandma, you have no idea how gross they are. Carson didn’t come home all night—who knows where he was messing around. Now he’s collapsed outside, and get this—he’s missing a finger. It’s honestly disgusting.”
