Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 1906

“All right, boss, you can relax. We’ve been doing this for years—we know exactly what to do.”

No one bothered to say anything else. Everyone knew the routine: rough the guy up, then dump him right at the Kidd family’s front door. As soon as that was done, their job was finished.

And as for the severed finger? The folks at Golden Glow would clean it up and display it in the glass case at reception, like a trophy for everyone to see.

Anyone who’d ever been to Golden Glow knew how it worked—one look at the display, and you could tell someone had broken the rules again.

......

The next morning, chaos broke out at the Kidd estate. Jane’s stepmother nearly fainted over and over when she saw what had happened to her precious son.

Since Fiona was coming by today, Jane skipped the office. She woke up early and got busy in the kitchen, remembering how much Fiona loved her homemade waffle fries. This was the perfect chance to make a big batch for her to take home.

Who knew if there’d be time for things like this in the future?

“Who did this? Who the hell hurt my son like this?!”

Jane walked out of the kitchen, her face dark, apron still tied around her waist, flour smudged across her cheeks—she looked surprisingly cute.

“Why are you making such a fuss? It’s way too early for all this noise.”

She didn’t even bother to wipe the flour off her hands before yelling from the living room at the commotion outside. The moment she spotted Carson in her stepmother’s arms, she froze, completely freaked out, and screamed.
