Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 1642

What’s the big deal here?

Why does the Larkin family owe Jackson any sort of explanation?

If you ask me, it should be Jackson who's got some explaining to do!

Right now, Zoe’s so mad she's practically seeing red, her head spinning with dizziness, leaving her feeling a bit out of sorts.

“Take me there.”

Zoe took a moment to gather herself, letting her anger simmer down before heading over.

But by the time she arrived, the entire Larkin family, from the youngest to the oldest, were on their knees, pleading with Jackson for mercy. Meanwhile, Jackson sat there cool as a cucumber at the table's head, sipping his Earl Grey like he didn’t have a care in the world.

The Larkin family wasn’t used to scenes like this. Even the head honcho of the family wouldn’t dare mess with Jackson’s authority, which just goes to show how much clout he’s got in the Capital.

Yeah, the Larkin family messed up this time. Sure, they’re big shots back in the States, but here in the Capital? Even if they’ve got some pull, the main branch of the Woods family is nothing to sneeze at.

“Mr. Jackson, we admit this mess is on us, the Larkin family. We’re ready to take full responsibility, whatever the cost. Just please, leave our daughter out of it.”

Jackson found this plea amusing, smirking as he took a sip of his tea. Then, with a sudden crash, he smashed his teacup right in front of the Larkin family.

The guests around were dead silent, not daring to say a word, terrified of getting caught in the Woods family’s storm.

Some guests, though, couldn’t help but enjoy the Larkins’ predicament. The Larkin family was a big deal in the Capital, and now with a scandal like this, it’s no wonder Jackson was fuming. Even an ordinary person would lose their mind over such embarrassment.

Jackson hadn’t even laid out his full wrath yet, and these folks were already walking headfirst into trouble — it was like they had a death wish.

“Oh, not involve anyone?” Jackson scoffed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Your Larkin family must be hiding some real talents, asking me to spare anyone. What’s the Woods family’s reputation worth to you?”

“You hit me?” Zoe’s eyes were wide with shock as she stared at the person in front of her, demanding, “I’m not just any daughter, I am the...!”

Another sharp slap cut her off.

“You dare spout more nonsense? Are you trying to drag the entire family down with you?”

That brought Zoe back to her senses.

Yeah, she’d screwed up.

How could she let their family matters leak out like that? Luckily, there was still a chance to make things right; otherwise, she’d really end up as a discarded pawn, and even the Larkin family wouldn’t take her in.

“It wasn’t me with another man, I swear it wasn’t!”
