What else is she trying to pull now? Is she only happy if someone gets seriously hurt? Karter and Amanda kept quiet, just listening to Ethan. They felt it was beneath them to engage with Davis, and honestly, letting the younger folks handle this mess seemed like a better idea.
"Don't you think you owe Flora and her friend an apology? Word is, Flora's friend is still laid up in the hospital."
Who isn't in the hospital, for crying out loud? His daughter was still there, too! Just a bit ago, she'd been doused with boiling water! Her skin was scorched, not a single spot spared! But Davis knew they had to do what Ethan said, or they wouldn't make it out of here today.
"Alright, we'll apologize!" Davis managed to say, though it felt like his heart was being ripped apart. Jenna was in so much pain she couldn't even speak, just trembling all over. Why on earth should she apologize to Flora and Selene? She wasn't going to do it! No way! She was the one who was more seriously injured! She was the victim here! Flora should be the one apologizing to her!
But no one seemed to be listening to her silent protest. Ethan got a stretcher and had Jenna carried out, leading a whole procession toward Flora's place.
The Jiang and Lu families had shown up, with helicopters buzzing overhead, causing a huge ruckus and grabbing everyone's attention at the base.
"Who are those people? They look pretty intimidating."
"Don't you know? The guy next to Jenna is her dad, Davis. Leading the pack are folks from the Reyes and Falcone families. And see that old guy next to Miss Lu? He's the head honcho of the Davis family, known for their mastery in fragrances!"
People were mentally lighting a candle for Flora. Meanwhile, unable to resist their curiosity and love for gossip, they trailed after the procession.
Kylie, hidden among the throng, had a look of deep-seated hatred and malice, her eyes glinting with excitement. She never guessed Jenna knew folks from the Jiang and Lu families. This time, Flora was really done for! Getting kicked out of the medical base would be the least of her worries; she might even be facing something worse!
Buzzing with anticipation, she followed, eager to see Flora's downfall. Ethan, leading the way, felt her toxic gaze and turned to look back. His eyes lingered on her.
This woman... She looked familiar. Oh, right. Kylie. One of the ones who had bullied his Flora. Well, everyone was here now. He hadn't gone looking for her, but here she was, coming right to him. Ethan snorted, shook his head, and kept moving forward.
