Chapter 186
Violet’s POV
I was sitting on the edge of my bed, lost in my thoughts, when
the door creaked open.
Mia stood in the doorway, her small figure barely visible under
the dim hallway light.
“Mia?” I softened immediately.
“Can I sleep with you tonight?” she asked softly.
My heart clenched. I wanted pull her into my arms and tell her
yes, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t risk anybody’s safety, let alone Mia.
“Not tonight, sweetheart,” I said gently.
“Is it because of the baby?” She stood there pouting, and her big
eyes held quiet sadness.
I inhaled sharply.“No, Mia. It’s not like that.” But the doubt was
already in her eyes.
“Now that you will have your own baby, you don’t love me

anymore.” Her voice was barely above a whisper, but the
weight of her words made me extremely sad.
“No dear. I love you so much,” I said quickly, reaching for her,
but she took a small step back. Her tiny hands curled into fists.
“Then why can’t I stay?” Her voice wobbled.
“I-” Before I could respond, Olivia appeared in the doorway.
“Mia,” she said gently. “Come on. You are staying with me
tonight.”
Mia turned toward her but didn’t move immediately.
“I’ll tuck you in, and tell you a new princess story,” Olivia
coaxed, offering her a hand.
Mia hesitated.
I knelt, catching her hands in mine. “You’ll always be my
daughter, Mia,” I whispered. “I love you just the same and I will
always will.”
She searched my eyes for a long moment. Then, slowly, she
nodded.

She let Olivia take her hand, and they turned to leave.
I let out a shaky breath. Watching her go was more painful
than I had expected.
I never wanted Mia to feel left out, but no matter how much I
reassured her, things had changed. And even I didn’t fully
understand what I was becoming.
Nightfall arrived.
I sat on the bed, my wrists already bound to the headboard
with the silver–lined chains Philip had prepared. The cold metal
bit into my skin, but I barely felt it..
“Violet, please open the door. We can find a different way to do
this.” Asher’s voice came from outside, frustrated and heavy
with pain.
I closed my eyes and clenched my fists. “No, Asher.”
“At least let me stay with you. I can help.”
“You saw what happened last night, Asher,” I whispered. “I
won’t risk it happening again.”
“You won’t hurt me.”

“You don’t know that,” I shot back, my voice breaking. “And I
won’t take that chance.”
Asher exhaled heavily, and I heard a quiet thud against the
door. He was leaning on it now, close but still out of reach.
“I hate this,” he muttered.
“So do I,” I admitted.
For a moment, neither of us spoke.
Finally, Asher’s voice softened. “I’ll be right here all night.”
His footsteps lingered for a second before fading.
I took a slow breath. He had finally agreed. There was no other
choice. It wasn’t easy for me either.
I had already hurt Asher, and I didn’t know who else I might
hurt. But for tonight, I just had to make it until morning.
I lay there, aching from the separation, struggling to sleep. But
sleep didn’t come. My body stayed still, but my mind was
restless. I also tried contacting my wolf, but it was also useless.
I didn’t know what to expect, so I stayed alert, waiting for any

sign of change. And then, late into the night, when the moon
rose high in the sky, it came.
The hunger.
It started as a dull ache in my stomach, but within moments, it
spread through me like wildfire.
We need blood. My wolf stirred suddenly.
I clenched my jaw. No, we don’t.
We do. For the child.
No-
But my body no longer listened to me.
A violent tremor wracked through me, and I gasped. My hands
clenched into fists, my breathing turned ragged.
pulled at the chains, the metal biting into my skin.
My wolf growled and my muscles tensed, while heat rushing
through my veins. The hunger clawed at me making it
unbearable.
I needed blood.

Animal blood wouldn’t satisfy me anymore. My wolf yanked
harder,
And then the chains snapped,
A rush of power flooded through me, my body moving before
my mind could stop it.
I stumbled to my feet, swaying slightly as the hunger
sharpened.
