Chapter 185
Violet’s POV
Asher reached for my hands, trying to reassure me, but I was
still frozen with the weight of what I had just discovered. His
wounds weren’t healing like they should have.
“I know you’re upset,” Asher said gently, “but you don’t need to
blame yourself for this.”
shook my head. “How can I not? I did this to you, Asher! And
this isn’t just some normal injury–it should’ve healed by now,
but instead, it looks even worse. What if next time.”
He exhaled, rubbing slow circles on my wrist with his thumb.
“Stop worrying too much, Violet. This isn’t something you did
on purpose. And more importantly, I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine!” I snapped, pointing at his shoulder. “Look at
that! Look at what I did to you!”
He let out a small chuckle, which only made me angrier.
“Asher, this isn’t funny!”
Chapter 185
“I know,” he said, his expression turning serious again. “That’s
why I need you to stay calm and listen to me.”
I took a small breath, forcing myself to focus.
“You weren’t in control last night,” he admitted. “Your wolf was
acting purely on instinct, and that instinct wasn’t normal.“‘ His
jaw tightened. “Philip and I have been investigating what could
be causing this, and I think it’s tied to the curse the former
Queen cast before she died.”
The curse the former Queen. A chill ran through me as I
remembered her final words.
One of you shall live, one of you shall die.
“She wasn’t acting alone,” Asher went on. “A man–a masked
man–was seen with her before the attack. He gave her the
dagger she used to end her own life, and then he vanished.
Philip and I believe he’s the one behind everything, but we
haven’t been able to find him.”
So this is what he had been hiding from me before.
“If I hadn’t happened to discover the wound on you this time,” My head snapped up. “when exactly were you planning to tell
me this?”
Chapter 185
He hesitated.
I felt my anger flare. “Asher-”
“I didn’t want to worry you,” he admitted, sighing. “You’ve
already been through so much. You’re carrying our child. I
thought I could figure it out first and then-”
“And then what? Drop the news on me after it was too late?” I
cut in. “Asher, this is about our child, our pack. You don’t get to
make these decisions alone.”
His eyes darkened, but instead of arguing, he sighed. “You’re
right. I should have told you sooner.”
“Promise me you won’t keep things from me again. Not when it
comes to me or the baby,” I crossed my arms.
“Violet-”
“Promise me.”
Before he could answer, a knock sounded at the door.
Philip stepped in, followed closely by Gamma Simon, his face
grim.
Chapter 185
He first glanced at me, then at Asher, clearly aware that he
couldn’t discuss this in front of me.
I gave Asher a cold smile, and he sighed. “Go ahead, Violet
already knows everything.”
Simon nodded. “Okay.We found something.”
“Did you catch him?“Asher’s back suddenly straightened.
Simon shook his head. “Not yet. But we traced the dagger’s
source.”
“What about it?”
“The dagger wasn’t an ordinary weapon,” Simon continued. “It belonged to a vampire–one that has been lurking in our
territory for years.”
“A vampire?” My heart clenched.
Simon nodded. “It is designed to kill werewolves slowly. The wounds it inflicts don’t heal the way they should. Eventually, the body withers away without showing obvious signs of poison or infection.”
That explained why Asher’s wounds weren’t healing.
Chapter 185
“But that’s not all,” Simon added. “The dagger was also cursed.”
“What kind of curse?” Asher’s expression darkened.
“That, we don’t know yet. The only one who might have an
answer is the prophet of our clan,” Simon sighed.
Asher nodded. “Then we go to him.” Then he immediately
mind–linked the prophet.
A few seconds later, Asher then turned to me. “Good. He’s
expecting us. Let’s hurry.”
ล
Without delay, we left. The trip was short, but an uneasy
feeling settled in my chest..
When we arrived, the prophet was already outside, waiting.
His face was calm, unreadable. Without a word, he gestured for
us to follow him inside.
He listened silently as Simon explained the situation. When the
story was finished, he let out a slow breath and finally spoke.
“It is as I feared. This is a blood curse–one of the most vicious
kinds.”
“A blood curse?” I repeated, barely above a whisper.
Chapter 185
The prophet nodded. “The cursed will develop an insatiable hunger for blood. Specifically, the blood of their mate. The
more they consume, the stronger their cravings become–until
their mate perishes.”
My breath hitched.
“But that’s not the worst of it.” The prophet’s expression turned
graver. “If the cursed is pregnant, the curse will spread to the
child. And not just this child–but every descendant they have.”
A chill ran down my spine.
Asher stiffened beside me. “You’re saying our child will inherit
this. hunger?”
“Yes,” the prophet confirmed. “And it will continue for
generations. A never–ending cycle of internal suffering, passed
down through blood.””
I suddenly understood why the former Queen had smiled
before she died.
She didn’t just want me or my child dead. She wanted to curse
our entire bloodline.
The thought made my hands tremble.
Chapter 185
“How do we break it?” Asher spoke sharply.
The prophet shook his head. “You can’t.”
Silence.
“The curse cannot be undone once the caster is dead,” the
prophet continued. “It is bound by their will, and their death
seals it into place.”
I swayed on my feet.
No. No, this couldn’t be happening.
