Chapter 187
Violet’s POV
“Violet,” Asher murmured. “If you need blood, then take it from
me.”
Before I could comprehend what he meant, he dragged the
knife across his arm.
Blood welled instantly, rich and warm, dripping down his skin.
Its scent hit me like a tidal wave and I trembled, my wolf
howling within me.
I tried to resist, I really did, but my instincts overpowered my
sanity. Before I could stop myself, my lips met his wound, and I
drank.
The moment Asher’s blood touched my tongue, it sent a jolt
through my body. The craving swallowed me whole. My fangs
ached as I drank, the warmth spreading through me–through
my child.
The haze in my mind lifted, my body humming with energy.

Then, through the fog, I saw him.
Asher.
His eyes never wavered, locked onto mine–not with fear, not with regret, but with love.
I gasped, suddenly realizing what I was doing. My hands shot up, pushing against his chest.
“No,” I sobbed, tearing myself away. “Asher, stop. I–I don’t want to hurt you.”
But Asher didn’t let go.
He cupped my face, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “You and our child need this. I won’t let you suffer alone, Violet.”
“This is what they wanted, Asher. The vampire, the former Queen. They wanted to trap us like this!” Tears blurred my vision.
“I don’t care,” he admitted, his thumb brushing away a tear from my cheek. “I only care about you for now and until we find a way out, I won’t just stand by.”
I shook my head, guilt tightening in my chest. But I couldn’t

deny it. The hunger was gone. My mind was clear. And if Asher
hadn’t been here tonight. I didn’t even want to think about
what could have happened.
He held me close, his heartbeat steady beneath my fingertips.
When his warmth wrapped around me, I lost consciousness
from exhaustion.
The next morning, I found the palace quieter than usual.
I sat on the bed, watching Asher as he dressed. He moved
slower than normal, his usually sharp movements sluggish. The
sight made my heart ache.
“Are you feeling okay?” I asked softly.
He paused for a moment before nodding. “Yes. I’m completely
fine.”
“Asher,” I murmured. “You’re becoming weaker.” I knew it
clearly.
Before Asher could reply, a knock at the door interrupted us.
“Come in,” Asher called.

The door opened, and my mother, Charlotte, stepped inside.
Chapter 187
“Asher,” she said, “Violet” She turned to me.
I confused. “Mother, why are you here?”
“Asher called me,” she said simply.
I looked at Asher, who avoided my gaze.
“You asked my mother for help?”
He shrugged. “She knows more about magic than anyone else.
If anyone can help, it’s her.”
He was right. Why hadn’t I thought of it?
Charlotte kneeled beside Asher and placed a glowing hand over
his wound. His skin glowed faintly as her magic seeped into
him, sealing the cut.
I exhaled shakily. “Thank you.”
My mother’s expression remained tense. “It only healed the
surface, but he’s still weak from blood loss.” She turned to
Asher, “You can’t keep doing this.”
“It’s my fault.” I lowered my head, guilt weighed on my chest.
My mother pulled me into a firm embrace, “We will find a

way,” she whispered, running her fingers through my hair. “I
promise!”
“I trust you mother.” I clung to her.
She pulled back, resting her hands on my shoulders. “I will first
consult with the prophet. It would need some time as I need to
do more research on the curse.” I nodded, my throat heavy.
Asher and Philip would continue investigating the blood curse.
But until then, I would have to fight against this hunger-
somehow.
Later that afternoon, Olivia arrived with Mia.
Mia hesitated at the doorway before shuffling inside.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled.
I frowned, crouching down to her level. “Sorry for what,
sweetheart?”
“For last night,” she whispered, looking down. “I got upset and
left without saying goodnight. Olivia told me you couldn’t sleep
with me because you were sick, I didn’t know. I thought.” I
pulled her into my arms, hugging her tightly.

“Mia, you don’t have to apologize,” I murmured into her hair. “I
should have explained it to you better. But I promise, I love you
just as much as always. That will never change, no matter
what!””
She sniffled. “Really?”
I cupped her small face, smiling. “Really.”
Mia studied me for a moment, then nodded seriously.
“Okay,” she said. “But you have to get better soon!”
I chuckled. “I will. And until then, can you do something for
me?”
She tilted her head. “What?”
“Take care of Olivia for me.”
Mia gasped, turning to Olivia. “Do you need taking care of?”
Olivia laughed. “Maybe a little.”
