Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 388

Selene couldn’t help but feel baffled. Was Harrison really asking such a ridiculous question on purpose?

“You’re the CEO of Vaughn Enterprises. You have more than enough tricks up your sleeve to clear your own name. Don’t kid yourself—I know full well it’s easier for you to throw Felicity under the bus than to get rid of yourself.”

As Harrison tried to shift all the blame onto Felicity, Selene weighed her options in silence.

If she had stepped forward then and declared that both Harrison and Felicity were equally responsible, she would have only driven them onto the same side, uniting them against her. Since Harrison was so intent on destroying Felicity’s reputation, why not let him do her dirty work for her? If Felicity could finally be silenced for good, that wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

“Harrison, try pulling one more dirty trick on Adrian, and see what happens!”

Harrison let out a cold, hollow laugh.

Blood had soaked through his cuff, but Selene didn’t spare him a glance, let alone show any concern.

“You may be protecting Adrian,” Harrison said, his voice rough, “but I know, deep down, your heart is still with me.”

It sounded like he was trying to convince himself more than her.

Selene couldn’t look at him—she didn’t even know how she was supposed to face him anymore. She hadn’t checked on him because she knew, painfully, she no longer could. And this situation—they had no one to blame but Harrison himself.

As Harrison lowered his head in thought, Selene rolled her eyes, the gesture elegant and dismissive. She couldn’t be bothered to argue; it was a total waste of breath.

“Selene.”

Adrian walked over, taking his place by her side.

The moment Harrison saw Adrian, his brow tightened.

Ignoring Adrian altogether, Harrison asked Selene, “Now that you hold all the power in The Thompson Group, when do you plan to break up with him?”

Selene paused for a split second. So, Harrison had found out that her relationship with Adrian was just a business arrangement.

Adrian grinned, his tone light and teasing. “Try to remember your place, ex-husband.”

The corner of Harrison’s eye twitched, his patience snapping. “Adrian, don’t get too comfortable. This won’t last!”

Adrian reached out his hand to Selene. “As long as Selene keeps rising, I’ll have every reason to enjoy it.”

Selene slipped her arm through Adrian’s, and together, they turned and walked into the glittering ballroom where the reception was in full swing.

*

A lavish crystal chandelier bathed the ballroom in warm, golden light, painting everything in a dazzling glow. Wine in elegant glasses caught the shimmer, casting a tempting luster that mingled with the brilliance overhead.
