Felicity’s eyes flashed with recognition. She shot up from her seat, calling out, “I know that man! He works for Thompson Victory Technologies!”
Her voice rang across the hall, desperate to prove to everyone that the speech switch had nothing to do with Harrison.
But then, the screen changed. The footage now showed the man who’d swapped the speech meeting with Harrison alone in a hallway.
Their conversation was caught on camera—clear as day.
A collective gasp swept through the guests below.
Felicity’s face drained of color; her words faltered on her lips.
She turned, stunned, to stare at Harrison in disbelief.
Was Adrian’s speech really swapped out on Harrison’s orders?
But how could Harrison be so careless? What kind of amateur would bribe a Thompson Victory Technologies employee to switch the speeches, then meet him one-on-one inside company headquarters?
Had he forgotten the place was crawling with cameras?
Felicity’s gaze was frantic as she looked at Harrison. Yet the man at the center of attention sat perfectly still, utterly composed, as if the person colluding on the big screen wasn’t him at all.
Selene narrowed her eyes, tired of Harrison’s “deny until you die” routine. She spoke up, her tone crisp, “Why don’t we ask this employee directly what he and Mr. Vaughn discussed?”
The employee, seeing himself exposed on the screen, broke into a cold sweat. With a hundred eyes fixed on him, his knees visibly shook.
“Ms. Thompson—it was Mr. Vaughn who told me to do it! He gave me ten grand; I’ll give it back to you, okay? Please, just let me off the hook this once!”
The crowd erupted in shocked whispers.
“So it really was Harrison behind this? Is he targeting Mr. Shaw?”
“Well, considering Mr. Shaw and Miss Thompson are together, I can see why Mr. Vaughn—the ex—would be jealous. Still, this is pretty childish.”
Harrison let out a derisive chuckle after being called out by Selene.
“I knew you’d figure out what I was up to,” he scoffed. “I just wanted to see how you’d handle it. When you realized Adrian’s speech had been switched and didn’t say a word, I thought maybe you…”
