Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 895

That night.

Dean followed the signal and tracked it down, but when he found a man at the location, he froze. Without a word, he grabbed the guy’s backpack and rifled through the side pocket. There it was, the chip, stained with dried blood.

For a moment, Dean was so furious it felt like the whole room might explode. His eyes were wild.

“Lin Jianshu!” he shouted, teeth clenched.

She’d really done it. She’d actually cut that chip out of her own skin.

That was supposed to be impossible, unthinkable. But she’d done it anyway.

“Find her!” Dean yelled, his voice echoing off the walls. “I don’t care what it takes, search every island in this archipelago, but bring her back!”

But now, with the chip gone, tracking her was like trying to find a single grain of sand on the beach. For days, his men turned the islands upside down, searching every corner, but Emmy had vanished without a trace.

...

By then, Emmy was already far away, on another island hundreds of miles from Dean’s reach. It was safely outside his territory.

She asked around, trying to figure out where the CEO of Deep Blue Tech was staying. But Deep Blue Tech was involved in top-secret national projects. Everything about them was confidential, and someone like Emmy, with no official papers or connections, had no way of getting any information.

Just when she was about to give up, Emmy saw a poster pinned to the dock’s bulletin board.

“National AI Charity Exhibition Tour — Next Stop: Emerald Island Resort.”

It read: Free admission, open to everyone. Showcasing the latest in AI technology and applications.

Emmy felt her heart jolt in her chest.

AI.

She wondered how far the technology had come since she’d last seen it. She made up her mind right then. Even if she couldn’t find her mom, she had to check out that exhibition.

So she started working any job she could find—washing dishes, hauling boxes, fixing old electronics. After days of hustling, she finally scraped together enough money for a ticket to Emerald Island.

But just as she was about to board the last ferry, she spotted two men at the entrance. Black suits, sunglasses, the whole look. Even from a distance, she recognized them as Dean’s men.

They were holding up photos, checking every passenger as they boarded.

“Hey, kid,” she whispered, keeping her voice low and urgent. She pointed to his getup. “Your outfit, and all those shell decorations—can I buy them from you? All of it?”

The boy blinked, looking her up and down. She was dirty from travel, but her eyes were fierce and determined.

“But… this is how I make a living,” he mumbled, confused.

“It’s an emergency,” Emmy said, pulling out a crumpled stack of bills from her pocket. It was everything she’d managed to save.

“Name your price.”

The boy hesitated, thinking hard. He held up three fingers, testing the waters.

“Three hundred dollars?” he asked, almost afraid she’d laugh at him.

For a pile of shells and trinkets, it was highway robbery. But Emmy didn’t hesitate.

“Deal.”

She pressed the money into his hands. The boy’s face lit up as he took off his shell-covered jacket and hat, even taking the time to untangle the little charms and help her get everything in order.
