Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 870

On the way back, they decided to take a luxury yacht instead of the helicopter.

Dean noticed Emmy seemed a little down, so he suggested they visit another island to see the camellias. He told her the flowers were blooming everywhere, turning the hills into a sea of color.

The yacht slid across the turquoise water, everything peaceful until they passed an island and saw thick smoke curling into the sky.

A crew member quickly came over to Dean. “Sir, it looks like the island ahead is on fire.”

Dean barely hesitated. His business instincts took over. “Get us closer. Find out who owns that island and if they’re interested in selling.”

“Yes, sir.”

Once they docked, Emmy wanted to go ashore and look around. Dean caught her hand before she could slip away, holding on tight.

“I’ll come with you.”

He wouldn’t let go, so she gave up trying to pull free.

When they reached the scene, they realized the fire had started at a beachfront bar. The flames were already out. Up above, a silver drone hovered in slow, steady circles.

A group of locals were gathered nearby, all talking at once.

“Oh my God, did you see that thing? It’s amazing! Heard it’s the latest model from the States. Infinity, I think?”

A man with sun-darkened skin was practically glowing with excitement. “You should’ve seen it. Those eyes just scanned through the smoke and found the fire in seconds!”

A woman in a floral shirt chimed in. “That’s not all. It kept making announcements, telling us where the gas tanks were, which beams were about to fall… It basically saved the rescue teams!”

“Exactly! If it hadn’t been for those warnings, the fire crew would’ve taken much longer, and someone could’ve gotten hurt. That drone’s like a guardian angel!”

Emmy listened, her eyes drawn up to the drone. It was still circling, sunlight glinting off its smooth body, its electronic voice echoing through the air.

“Warning. Structural cracks detected in support beam two, Sector B. Load-bearing capacity below thirty percent. All rescue personnel, evacuate immediately.”

“Repeat. All rescue personnel, evacuate immediately.”

Hearing the familiar language in the drone’s broadcast and seeing the word “Infinity” printed on its side, Emmy suddenly froze.

She tilted her head, caught off guard by a wave of déjà vu. It almost felt like she should know this drone, like it was something from her own past.

Dean’s eyes brightened for a second, then the light faded. He could tell she wasn’t interested, not really.

Without another word, he led her back to the yacht. Not long after, his assistant came back to report. The island belonged to the indigenous community, protected by the government, and couldn’t be bought or sold under any circumstances.

Dean was disappointed. He’d gotten used to this kind of news lately. Most of the hundreds of islands in Fiji weren’t up for sale.

Still, with his money and Brian working behind the scenes, he’d managed to quietly buy eight private islands already. His overseas empire was starting to take shape.

The yacht set off again, heading toward the camellia island. The green outline of the island was just coming into view when the assistant hurried over and whispered something in Dean’s ear.

Dean’s face changed in an instant. He rushed over to Emmy, who was leaning on the railing, lost in the scenery.

“We’re not going today,” he said, urgency in his voice.

“Why not?” Emmy turned, puzzled.

“I’ll bring you next time.” He didn’t offer any explanation. He just turned to the captain and said, “Turn the boat around. Head back to the island.”
