Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 837

“Ma’am, your water just broke. You’re in labor.”

Lorraine reached out to steady Emmy, but the car shook so badly that she could barely keep herself upright.

“Driver, hurry! Turn around and get to the hospital. She’s having the baby!” Lorraine shouted from the back seat.

The driver’s face tightened, but his foot stayed heavy on the gas, not slowing down even a little.

Micah’s eyes went cold. He pulled a black pistol from his waistband and pressed it hard against the driver’s temple.

“I’m only going to say this once more. Stop the car.”

The driver stiffened. For a split second, something wild and desperate flashed across his face. Instead of stopping, he actually pressed harder on the accelerator.

Micah’s expression darkened. Without hesitating, he shoved the gun downward and fired into the driver’s thigh.

A guttural scream ripped through the car. The driver convulsed in pain, and the car jerked violently, swerving across the road in wild, dangerous zigzags.

Micah grabbed the steering wheel with one hand and yanked the handbrake with the other.

The wheels screeched, and finally the car skidded to a stop at the side of the road.

Before the driver could even catch his breath, Micah lunged in the cramped space. The two struggled for a moment, fists flying.

Micah finally kicked open the door and shoved the driver out, sending him sprawling onto the pavement.

The driver landed hard, but he barely glanced at his bleeding leg. He scrambled up and shouted to someone in the distance, “Help! They’re getting away!”

Micah’s stomach dropped. This was bad.

He slid into the driver’s seat, ready to start the engine, but two black sedans pulled up, pinning them in from the front and back.

The doors opened. Bodyguards stepped out, every one of them looking ready for trouble.

From the moment the shouting started up front, Emmy knew something was wrong.

But the contractions were coming harder and faster, each wave of pain making it almost impossible to think. Cold sweat trickled down her forehead. She clung desperately to Lorraine’s hand.

“Micah, go. Please, just go,” she gasped.

She gritted her teeth. “Lorraine, call Dr. Hall. Now.”

Lorraine already had her phone out, dialing as fast as she could. “Ma’am, take deep breaths. I’m calling right now.”

Micah’s voice came from the front. “Ma’am, hold on tight.”

He barely finished before jamming his foot down on the gas.

The big Lincoln lurched, slamming full force into the car blocking their path.

Emmy felt the whole world spin. The pain in her belly was so sharp and heavy that her vision blurred.

“Ma’am!” Lorraine wrapped her arms around Emmy, trying to shield her.

“Lorraine, come in with me.”

Lorraine looked to Lorelei. “Dr. Hall, I’m a certified maternity nurse. I can help.”

Lorelei glanced at her, then nodded quickly. “Change into scrubs. Go.”

The delivery room doors swung shut.

A few minutes later, Teresa, Abriella, Krystina, and the others hurried in, faces pale with worry.

“What happened? Why so suddenly?” Teresa demanded, rushing up to Micah, her eyes rimmed red.

Micah told them everything, step by step.

Abriella frowned when he finished. “Those bodyguards, are you sure they were Mr. Nelson’s people?”

Micah was silent.

He wasn’t sure at all.

Time dragged by. Two hours passed, but there was still no news from the delivery room.

Everyone paced anxiously, nerves stretched tight.

Just then, the elevator doors slid open. Tyler appeared, being pushed in a wheelchair by his assistant.
