Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 825

Thud.

Dean punched the steering wheel so hard his knuckles turned white. “Damn it.” His voice was rough, almost a growl, and a vein pulsed at his temple.

Emmy... Emmy.

She had never meant to work with him. Not for a single second. From the very beginning, she’d been plotting, playing him for a fool. She used his trust, stole his project, asked him to take a break just so she’d have time to secure her place at Nelson Corporation. She handed him a fake proposal, making sure his support project would go nowhere.

Suddenly, something clicked. He fumbled for his phone, scrolling through his contacts until he found the cabinet minister’s number. He called, barely waiting for the line to connect.

“The AI prosthetic support program. Cancel it. Right now.”

On the other end, the man sounded tense. “The support projects for this quarter are already bundled and sent for central review. It’s too late to call it back. If nothing goes wrong, the first payment will be released within a week.”

Dean’s voice was low, cold. “We’ve been set up. The proposal is fake.”

“What? Didn’t you check it? If the central committee catches this as a false project, I’m going to be in big trouble.”

“It’s too late for that.” Dean closed his eyes, anger and betrayal burning in his chest. “Do whatever you have to. I’ll cover any cost.”

He ended the call and just sat there, the taste of blood rising in his throat. He had already given up so much, tried to save the best for her, even planned to split the win with her.

And what did she do?

For James... No. For that arrogant Mr. Nelson, she stabbed him in the back without hesitation.

Revenge or not, this was enough.

In the dim car, Dean’s eyes flashed with a bitter, dangerous light. Claudia’s crazy idea crept into his mind again, no matter how much he tried to push it away.

Take Emmy. Take her somewhere no one can find her. Make her yours and only yours.

Once everyone had finished paying their respects, the memorial service moved on to the next part. All the servants, the pastor, and anyone who wasn’t family stepped out, leaving only the Nelsons in the courtyard.

James helped Emmy up, and together they knelt in front of the altar with the rest of the family.

Only then did Tyler arrive, taking his time. He moved forward quietly and offered his incense.

When he stepped back, silence filled the air again.

Cadence stood in the center of the hall, holding a sealed manila envelope. She looked around at everyone, her voice calm and steady, but full of gravity.

“Everyone.”

“I’m going to read Mrs. Annette Nelson’s last will and testament.”
